" Yeah, this is where I'm at too. The game is just overtuned and overdesigned like crazy right now. I mean it works, but it's like they forgot everything that made POE 1 so special, and instead of making that but more accessible they made something that's even more impenetrable for the average gamer Ninja.

" That's amazing but changes nothing. The only things what should or shouldn't be in the game are those which creators want or don't want to have there. If they want dangerous white mobs so be it. I don't know how many players PoE 2 needs in order to survive but I rather play a game with smaller playerbase and niche gameplay than opposite. My issue with white mobs in the early game is that they make the game feel like wading through deep mud. They nonstop stop you in your tracks and they require too many spell casts to die. This doesn't add difficiculty but a whole lot of tedium and frustration because i want to move on to the parts of the game that are enjoyable to me.

Not sure how you guys played D1 and D2 but I did kite white mobs quite often in those games, I would even go so far as to say PoE2 is easier than both D1 and D2.
Swarm of hidden or succubus in D1? Swarm of black souls in D2? The only option in both these cases was to run like hell, try picking them off 1 by 1 but then end up running into more packs of monsters and suddenly you are just dead. Then you had to run back naked to get your corpse back with all those monsters camping your dead body. In PoE2 now, my ice strike monk that I'm currently playing is just teleporting around and exploding any white mobs, I don't even get to see what their actual mechanics are before they are dead, I would love some more kiting and actually get into a fair fight with these guys before they explode on me. " nah... even i do it, while if you watch any speedrunner/racer - they all do it. Even if mobs stronger - you always kite forward until gather them in big group to aoe them. Or just skip to the boss. |

" You do realize that the black souls in all their variants were bugged prior to 1.14, right? They were doing both physical and lightning damage every frame their lightning touched you. That was fixed to do proper hits of only lightning damage and not every frame, and the souls became a joke. Please don't use bugged monsters as an example of "difficulty". (I can already hear you thinking "Claw Vipers!" - Those were bugged in the same way and subsequently fixed, their poison clouds did physical damage per tick as well as poison.) Yes, corpse runs were a thing, and sometimes you were just forced to rejoin a game to get your body because of certain packs having bad auras and whatnot. That's fine. The souls themselves as white monsters actually weren't even that scary, it was when they had a rare pack that you really noticed the problem. " This is just a non-sequitur and emphasizing an overperforming build. Sure, there are a couple of these every patch, that should not be the go-to for everyone, as not everyone wants to play the hyper meta builds like Ice Strike, or Lightning Arrow. You have to think about the casual audience here who are not super-hardcore and do not follow meta builds/guides, because without them, the game will fail as they are the majority of the playerbase of every game. |
