Performance issues
|
Hi, I've encountered another performance issue. While executing the Abyssal mechanic, monsters won't disappear from the map, causing significant performance drops. Below is a video demonstrating the issue. I'm using a Radeon RX 7900 xtx nitro+ GPU and a Ryzen 7 7800x3D CPU.

Not only on abyss depths, today if you interact with the league on regular maps, got 2 elites good luck with the 20 fps and cant see or react to the projectiles.
I cant even start to imagine the performance on juicing maps or worst adding delirium. Hope GGG address their performance problems, cant afford to lose time just on troubleshoot hoping for a decent experience every patch. |

Massive performance issues on my end as well. 7900xt and 5800x3d. Not just the league, but as soon as there is a massive number of monsters in the screen, especially breaches, I can drop from 100+fps to as low as 2fps.
I can see the response time from the cpu just spikes extremely high. Last edited by TheRealWolfick#4041 on Sep 5, 2025, 9:51:53 PM

Same on my end. Some maps seem to perform far worse than others.
razed fields seems to be the worse, just enter the fields and the fps drop is huge. Wont even talk about the visual clarity in this map in particular |

Yeah performance is worst, even with high-end hardware you drop below 30fps in huge abyssal maps. My PC has a 9800x3d and a 5080, what else do we need to have stable 60+ fps?
I wonder why GGG doesn't implement some effect reduce options in the game, is it so hard, do you not have the technologie yet ... or do you want us to suffer hard?

Only Windows 11, Go to System > Display > Graphics and select PoE2.
Be sure to change "GPU preference from High Performance" to "Specific GPU..." For some reason when you select High Performance, the OS will use the dedicated and integrated GPU. I've verified this by looking at the GPU utilization rate. HP = the integrated GPU was getting utilized, while it stays at 0 when I select "Specific GPU..." Load times have drastically been reduced and FPS more stable. Your mileage may vary, gl! |

Win10, such things usually don't help much at all^^
Just to give you an impression: screenshots Needs alot of optimization to get this fixed.

i had to completely disable integrated graphics to even force the windows/game to use the correct card, why do they hate amd? 9700x + 9070xt and i can't figure out what i'm doing wrong but i get single digit fps on lowest settings in Razed Fields map when i have the flaming wheat on screen. other particularly offensive effects are also mostly fire based - Conjures Flamewalls, Periodic Fire Explosions and the abyssal monster respawn. for some reason regular burning ground and a lot of other elemental effects are still managable usually, though ice bosses and breach can be dreadful

I feel like this thread deserves a bump considering it's still relevant after Patch 0.3.1
"Improved the performance of Abyss cracks and craters." I have not noticed much improvement. Maybe I'm lucky that I didn't experience crashes and freezes and this is what this line is addressing? However, Abyss cracks will take my FPS rate from 162 (capped for monitor refresh rate) to as low as 30 depending on the map. For context this is on a 7800x3d with a 7900xtx at a Resolution of 3440x1440, renderer of DirectX12, using NIS Upscale Mode with No Upscale. Detail settings are set to default. I find adjusting any of the above categories to their lowest least taxing modes, settings, resolutions, doesn't change much of the behavior of Abyss and other heavy monster density mechanics (Breach, Delirium etc) from lowering my fps into the 30's and 40's depending on the mechanic and map. However, the less dense encounters maintain a high FPS rate more often at lower settings. I guess I understand on a basic level that obviously the more things you have going on on your screen, the harder it is for your system to maintain a high FPS rate, especially given the variety of things that can happen on your screen in this game. But I also find it kind of wild that a system with high end modern components drops all the way into the 30's in these situations. I guess I'm not mad, I'm just kinda disappointed. |
