Completely untrue. First thing to do is add the support to make two orbs. Now they expire and give you two remnants. Now invest in the passive tree and you will generate even more. I am about to start the end game and its definitely worthwhile to use orbs and remnants.

ARC is my main skill, not some shity orb, it deal more damage to cast ARC once again than cast this shity ORB
Arc is my main skill as well but supporting yourself with orb is huge. It provides remnants, damage, and applies lightning exposure with the support gem.

orb do 0 dmg
no need -res with 75% penetration
casting ARC one more time instead orb is more DPS
