Semi-permanent drop from 60 to 30 FPS - Asking for help.
Hello everyone!
Recently I noticed one of most annoying problems I have met. The situation is as follows: When I start game and go on map, everything is cool as cucumber. 60 FPS (locked, so I bet it's bit more than that, like 80 or so). After few maps my FPS drops to 40 without mobs, around 30ish with them. Now, from what I read, my laptop should be enough to play this game, even on higher settings than I set. I have changed Nvidia shader cache to 100 GB, deleted both PoE2 and Nvidia files as well. It doesn't solve my issue. Now, I'm bit desperate to look for a help in that aspect. I have two laptops, with same configuration and this happens on both of them, albeit not at the same time. On one we got 60 FPS while there is semi-perma drop to 40 on another. Closing game and starting it again restore lost FPS but that's good for a while. Tried fullscreen, borderless - nothing. Changed DLSS from Balanced to all Performance but that didn't do anything except blurring my graphic. FPS were the same :( Maybe there are some solutions you found to fix that? Or commands, ini file changes, not sure. My laptop spec: " And my in-game stats/settings: ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you very much for all help in advance! Did you check the temperature of all those parts?
laptops overheat much faster the PCs, most parts will automatically thermal throttle (slow down) when they overheat to prevent damage (most notable are CPU,GPU and SSD) Closing the game will drop the temp instantly, maybe that's why it works again for a short time Just a guess, was the first thing I thought off reading your description Last edited by crimson1234#0578 on Aug 31, 2025, 6:29:25 PM

I can't tell if you mentioned everything you've tried, but go by a process of elimination.
Go into a zone you know you will get frame drops in. Set all of the game's display>detail settings to their lowest, and then increase each one until you find the thing that causes the issue. For me, I found that water setting caused issues. It could be different for you. If this fails, try play in window mode and shrink the window. This always reduces my frame latency & therefore increases frame rate. |

Thank you for advices!
I will check that as soon as I can. Tried to check if my laptop is overheating but so far it reached around 70C max, but didn't decrease FPS. But, didn't had the time to test it to the "fps drop" moment :( It happened even on the map that I cleared fully during campaign, then left to another map and returned to the clear one. My FPS dropped to 33 or so and that's it. Playing this game feels like I'm using Intel Celeron 800 MHz :D |

this might be due to some old bug from variable 'vector' type from general chat- just switch to empty general chat like: /global 32445, this solve the 'memory leak' issue for most. give it a try

I experience the same issue on PC. Everything will be fine for 30-45 min or so then it will dip from 60fpd to 45 and later it goes to 35 or so.
Leaving the game and loggin back in instantly brings me back to 60fps and it can stay at 60 for another 45min or so. I went through the same steps as OP with shader at 100GB and deleting the folders. I am not sure what to do here. |

I'm using RTX 3050Ti (laptop). I had issues with FPS degrading over time while playing PoE1 and PoE2 (from 144/100 FPS to 60/40 while in hideout after doing few maps/instances).
For me it was caused by NVIDIA Driver 577.00, 580.88, 580.97 and 581.15 (clean install through DDU) I did not test 581.08 since I'm not interested in re-installing drivers another time). Currently I'm using 576.88 (clean install through DDU) and both PoE1 and PoE2 no longer have problems with FPS degrading. "Detected out-of-date GPU driver. Please update to latest version" message while launching PoE2 - ignore it, it works fine. I suggest removing all PoE1 / PoE2 shader cache after clean installing new driver. Nvidia shader cache are automatically deleted upon using DDU. First maps/instances always will be laggy, since shaders are rebuilding. |

I have 3050Ti laptop too and i was also facing this issue. The driver 576.88 also solved my problem thanks mate

Try setting the background fps to 60? That used to screw things up for me in POE 1 at least but I'm guessing it's not that here

check your ram and vram usage outside of the game, you may be having the same memory leaks I am.
