I don't play with sound, I had no idea what happened aside from the "You were caught in the explosion and died." text that appeared on screen and faded so fast I could barely even screenshot it. I'm not HC but I probably would have ragequit the entire PoE franchise over that. Even still, it was only my second death and felt so cheap. Really bad design.

I was on that boat and heard warning. But I thought explosive will hurt me but not kill me.

The exact same thing happened to me, I lost my level 48 witch, I'm completely discouraged to play this game

That's probably what happened, actors beyond replication radius don't update for the sake of server performance, you must've ran away too far. And some lame coder in GGG didn't account for correct behaviour in that case.

But honestly, playing HC in something as unbalanced, bloated, and buggy as poe is on you. I deeply respect people who dare doing it though:)

No offence but there's clearly a visual and you have like 30sec to leave the boat.

Gamers these days need something on the level of a quick-time event to prompt behavior otherwise any punishment for not paying attention and reacting will be deemed "unfair". It's an unfortunate side effect of dumbed-down games that just hand people wins so they're not used to how punishing games can be.

A lot of people will die to it once, feel dumb (and maybe slightly amused), never die to it again, and then join in with the people who did see it to call everyone else a noob for dying to something with a "clear visual" and 30-second fuse lol.

I think it's a neat and unique addition to the area that adds character. Hardcore was never about being fair anyways. It's about succeeding despite the cacophony of bullshit and danger.

The pirate treasure boat got me too. I saw the fuse... was starring at it... then realized -- TAKE COVER!!!!! lol

What a BS.
I dont watch any video for new act since i just like to feel it myself. Always play HC for the thrill. i dont even see anything since i was focused on the loot and then the screen just said i am dead.
Wow what an awesome experience wasting my weekend playing.
Totally disappointed. There is no way you are getting killed by no enemy and just a blown up boat.
