Contagion + Ignite with new Blackflame Covenant

I tested for 10 minutes and I wasn't able to spread Ignite with Contagion.

I did my own testing and what not able to spread it, need to do testing with dark effigy next once i get there

bumping this. blackflame covenant should absolutely spread ignites with contagion

Question

I took elemental invocation with blackflame covenant and i do not gain energy when I ignite.

Why?

Elemental invocation just requires "ignite" or does it specifically have to do fire damage to get energy?

If so, this non-interaction is kinda dumb.
