" I don't know what challenges have to do with the length of the campaign. But recalling Settlers League and you mentioning farming Act 6 weeks, I mean months into the league does make me wonder if we truly play the same game. :) Flames and madness. " Challenges reflect ability to achieve more difficult objectives, within the scope of an enjoyable league playthrough. You have your 40 already, while I will likely never see 16 (not that I'm trying). Your time management reflects the grinding necessary (or whatever means you use to achieve your challenges), while mine reflects my almost certainly more "casual," less intensive play. I play through an act to a comfortable stopping point, log out, watch some YouTube, play with my cats, do some other things. Start up again later that day, or the next. I don't hard charge through things at maximum optimization. I have fun, but I don't treat the game like a job, which is what most of the challenges look like to me. As for your recollection about me farming Act 6 in Settlers for weeks, I dunno where you got that, but it's a shabby strawman. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

" With how easy they became over the years they don't really reflect much aside of showing that someone really wanted to have the mtx, or even just finish of the full 40/40 set. " Already? It's already been two months of the new league, not like it's a crazy record time to finish challenges up that late into a league lol " Given how I’ve had to balance well paid overtime with enjoying the summer, plus cutting back on gaming time because of that, I’d say I was pretty much a casual player this league. Still, even with all the casualness and spending time in other games, it wasn’t hard to finish two well geared characters, finish experimental characters while hitting 40/40 challenges without feeling any pressure. Even in a league I didn’t really enjoy much, mainly because the league mechanic felt pretty simple and boring to me. With that yea it really does reflect that there's not much time investment or grinding involved to hit 40/40 in one of the easiest challenge leagues, lol. " Not entirely true as you can be good at a game while being also very successful and active irl. Thinking that it takes a lot of time to understand basics just shows how different the lerning curve of some is. " Good goals to aim for, if you haven’t already learned them. It’s really a shame tho that we also have people who prefer to ragebait the moment they’re proven wrong, getting hyperfixated on a simple discussion instead of using that time to learn something new even if it’s just game related. :) Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on Aug 14, 2025, 2:36:48 AM

" It’s always funny when people try to play expert but clearly haven’t engaged with the content they’re criticizing, like the one guy who went off on the Betrayal rework after completing a single mission. Expert level confidence, right? But what really gets me is the constant nitpicking of challenge counts and hidden profiles as if they’re the ultimate measure of who’s valid to talk. Funny how they’ll scream about how ‘broken’ ES is without ever touching an ES build, or say T17 maps are ‘bad’ after clearing one, or starting multiple rage topics about defensive layers. It’s pretty obvious when someone with a low challenge count actually knows their stuff, versus someone trying to act like they’re an authority with nothing to show for it. You’d think they’d realize that years of game experience count for more than flexing challenge numbers or an open profile, but apparently not. Especially when someone who’s been around for almost a decade gets sidelined by people who’ve been playing for a whole 2 1/2 years, pretending they know better. And then, when they're called out on their lack of knowledge, they try to invalidate feedback by pulling the 'hidden profile’ card, because apparently that makes all the years of experience irrelevant. It’s almost cute how quickly the focus shifts to profile nitpicking once their claims are debunked. Makes you wonder if they have anything of value to say at all, or if they’re just here to make noise. Hobby Gamer and Professional Software Engineer & Systems Architect from Tennessee

" Indeed, glad you agree that it’s a superiority complex when someone’s in denial after being proven wrong by multiple users, and resorts to belittling others by pointing to things like lower challenge numbers, skipped leagues, or a hidden profile in an attempt to make their own take feel more credible, even when it’s already been shown to be wrong or not 100% accurate. Pretty common these days, just like you said. " lol describes every interaction and comment you make on these forums to a "t" right here: unless its on full display, no one can possibly know more or have more experience than you....so its best to just write them off and not pay attention. And naturally taking all of those comments as personal attacks rather than actual, REAL information contradicting your classic talking points. I'm not going to take this further because I know how it goes...but I just love how much that paragraph describes every interaction. All that matters is the content of the post. Private accounts mean nothing. Years active mean nothing. Challenges mean nothing. If the content of the post is bad, then the player has no idea what they are talking about. If you jump on the "account judgment"....then you have immediately lost the argument. Just like that last line you wrote in the quoted paragraph, that attitude is merely a smokescreen designed to cover up your own inadequate knowledge by pointing out "oh well you have a private account, so you have no idea what you are talking about". It's the easy way out....complete write off and disengagement. Someone made this comment I believe earlier in this thread, but I'll paraphrase a bit: one need not be a professional chef in order to be an effective and knowledgeable food critic. lots of people take days to complete campaign.
the elite vets tend to forget other people exist on this planet. not everyone tries to plow through the maps to reach endgame asap. A lot of people like to do full clears of maps even during campaign. some people are altaholics... point is, not everyone clears it in one day in 5-8 hours, in fact most people probably take at least a few days. As a mainly HC only player, whos been playing since Beta, I consider a league start character to completion of A10 at 5-6 hours pretty fucking good for me. Even twinked up alts is sometimes a struggle. I'm by no means the fastest or best player out there. With that said, I genuinely struggle to want to play new leagues or restart a new character now after dying because of the thought of spending so many hours being absolutely bored out of my mind playing the same acts for the literally 1000th time.
