BuT mUh SoCiAl TrAdInG eXpErIeNcE!
It genuinely amazes me anyone repeats this tired lie.
Let's ignore the fact that literally half the time people don't respond *AT ALL*. Let's ignore the fact that around 60% of the time after a trade, people don't respond to my "Thanks! ^^". I just tried to do a trade with a guy. I'd've sworn the trade listing was 3 div, but it was 3.4. Dude didn't say a damned thing to me no "Hey man, the price is 3.4, not 3". Just canceled the trade, left the party. Didn't even reply to my apology for misreading the price. Trading in this game is *NOT* a social experience. You might have other legitimate (probably not) objections to a more automated trading system, but "MuH sOcIaL eXpErIeNcE" is a lie, and you all know it. Last bumped on Jul 22, 2025, 8:37:43 AM

I met my third wife through POE trade. My "ty, gl :D" had her weak at the knees.

Yeah they are other people. They don't do what you want.
I often respond to someone 1 second after they leave my hideout. They just don't see it because they left. I also don't trade when my map is busy af, so the person either waits or whispers again in a couple of minutes. Not going to even ask if I'm the only one. |

When you have a phonecall, or yr child needs attention, and get a trade request of that weird user who doesnt even look at whats hes byin, or strait up behaves like scammer, you'll get it 😉

" The price is shown in your own trade whisper. Literally. Anyhow, the trading system in PoE has been in need of improvements for the last ten years. The two main problems have always been: a) You have to leave your map to conduct a trade. Leaving your map (and disrupting the flow of mapping), finding the item and putting it in the trade window just so that the buyer tries to lowball you with 0.4 divs is always irritating :D b) And because of people having to leave their maps (and because of price fixers), we're left with a system where "no one" answers. But the "grass is always greener on the other side" is real here. No ARPG in the history of ARPG's has EVER(!) nailed trading - and there are reasons for that; finding a perfect solution is (close to) impossible. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

There is one thing that always bothered me about PoE trade, one thing in particular where the "solution" seems obvious, nor would implementing it impact the trade manifesto points and other things that devs have brought up.
Why isn't the entire trade website UI.....directly in the game itself? Seriously...we have overlays and things that make this happen, clearly it isn't a matter of the programming being an issue. We've had regex searches for a while, and a system that technically can search items in our inventory and match keywords. So then WHY, 13 years later, do we still need to literally exit the game we are playing and go to a website to make a trade? There's all the other frictions that Phrazz mentions, but this one in particular continues to bother me about the whole trade situation. That, and the need to use PoB for some pretty basic game calculations that SHOULD be done in our tooltips and character screens. Why is GGG seemingly against or allergic to us being able to use and find information within the game itself? Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 20, 2025, 7:06:08 PM

" the trading in an ARPG should be only done if you found an item that is valuable to you enough that you can exchange it for an upgrade you can use. not to press a hotkey to price check bunch of items and dump them in trade window for some change. if they push this further you will end up with a 'premium' vendor prices. terrible game balance that will need to account for everyone wearing t1 mods on all gear slots and absolutely dismal drops. oh wait, nvm this is poe1 section |

" While I personally (somewhat) agree here, we're so far down that rabbit hole that the point of no return is years behind us. The game and its community are both centered around trade, and the game itself requires so many things to progress, be that scarabs, items, gear, fragments and whatnot. As I said in my previous post; no ARPG in the history of ARPG's has ever nailed trade. Trade has, in most popular cases, been debated heavily, where 'most' people have been somewhat unhappy with the result. There is no "winning" for GGG here. There isn't one solution to save trade for everyone. There are as many views on trade as there are players. To end this... PoE1 is a game that doesn't really bring that many new players, and I think it's fair to say that the loyal, returning players are mostly players that wants "free trade" and an open market. No matter what I or you think, the right thing would probably be to adapt a system that appeals to them. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. " yeah the requirements for content most regard as normal gameplay in poe1 is wild rn. there is almost like a checklist for things like suppress and immunities. i just don't think people really want all the ripple effects of the system they are requesting. but then im a 'bit' biased so who knows how it will turn out |
