soul eater is the dumbest mechanic in an ARPG

a mechanic that punishes you for killing mobs because it super powers the mobs. especially in things like delve and abyss where mobs just keep spawning over and over.

yes i know it only lasts for a specific amount of time but it shouldn't be in the game at all its a dumb mechanic

It's especially egregious in timed content and you're playing a skeleton/SRS summoner which necessitates summoning minions constantly. Even them despawning due to time running out or being replaced counts as a nearby death for soul eater.

I've had a lot of close calls in Incursions, because a ton of time is eaten up trying to kill them.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

It absolutely is. Even if you argue that Headhunter users need their dopamine rush - nothing stops GGG from setting different rules for players and for enemies, the way other things also work. The only reason this travesty is still around is because GGG like punishing their players and if there isn't sufficient pushback they won't do anything about it.
Very frustrating when said Rare is busy whacking chunks off an Amber deposit, and you might want to have some of that for your miners to bring home. =9[.]9=

Understandable that there are worse modifiers out there than Soul Eater (looking at you Executioner, Mana Siphoner and Temporal Bubble) but not every single build in the game can deal out enough damage to take care of these specific mobs once they've absorbed enough souls.

Never forget the Alt Qual Gem deletion, the Ex > Div swap and loss of various crafting methods.

Revive Metamorph/Crucible. Refine Sentinel/Kalandra content. Bring back legacy modifiers/values.

Soul Eater on players and on monsters already have different effects.

Monsters get 2% damage reduce per stack up to 90% damage reduce at max stacks.
Players don't get this. They only get 225% increased attack and cast speed from maximum 45 stacks.

Why would you add 90% damage reduce to monsters on OFFENSIVE mod? This is so shoddy in design. SE monsters are usually the tankiest thing on your screen by a wide margin (they outtank a rare with four actual defensive mods) AND they get a terrifying swing speed on top.

Good Idea. Let me not attack the 200 Monsters next to me.
They will probably wait till the Stacks are expired...
