Viper is still overtuned

Tried another playthrough as I consider returning for the August season of PoE2. Got to Act 3 on my frost-fire Chronomancer and it was fine up until Viper again. I did all my ascendancies. I got all the gear I can scrape together for a whopping 29% chaos res. How can you have a Chaos Res check boss and no reliable way to access the required threshold. Her guards throw patterns of spears that you cannot avoid. They come from both sides. You have to stand in it. On previous playthroughs I could see the indicators that an attack was coming from specific guards and others would be safe. Now, they all spam spears at the same time and if you survive their barrage, Viper then spams you with her own chaos barrage while you are low and out of potion. If it's still like this in next patch I won't be playing. It is fine to have problems players need to overcome, but you need to provide the tools to overcome it.

Chaos damage is purple not green. Green just applies a chaos DoT but the hit damage, which is most of it, is physical.

You can also just roll through the spears.
The fight is not overtuned, it's a good fight to test your ability to dodge mechanics instead of bursting through or facetanking bosses, as many encounters beyond it will not initially be burstable or tankable.
No shes not.

She is not. Hard boss, yes, get better.
Viper is hard. But really not so hard when you learn how to deal with her mechanics. The spears are easily avoidable. You just need to roll through them, find the rhythm.
You're doing it wrong, the correct way is to call a friend in general chat.
Viper is literally one of only two fun bosses in the game IMO.
Engaging skill based boss that's not just a DPS sponge is good with me.

She's harder than other bosses for sure. But you can do it if you set your mind to it!

They nerfed her heavily and she is no longer that dangerous.

Spears? Yes, you can avoid them with dodgerolls.
Another forum post, another person crying to developers to make the game easier because they're bad at it.
According to Mobalytics the dodge roll mechanics are explained this way. At no point in the game does the game train you to know dodge roll is intended to provide you a frame of invincibility, and then you are saying this boss fight is expecting players to rely on timing that frame to survive the spear spam. That is sh*t design. Every other mechanic is choreographed and can be seen and adjusted for. The patterns are clear and if you are paying attention you can avoid it or minimize hits taken. If pressing a button to get a frame of invincibility is what helps you win a fight, I'd argue that is an exploit. For uniformity, this attack should be predictable and avoidable and considered "large AoE attacks will still hit you" as Maxroll describes it here.

New Mechanic - Dodge Roll

The Dodge Roll is a new mechanic coming to PoE 2 that wasn't in the original game. As the name suggests, the Dodge Roll allows yoru character to roll in a direction using the space bar (default hotkey).

The Dodge Roll provides a short i-frame (invincibility). When timed well, you can avoid projectiles and attacks. However, large AoE attacks will still hit you. These large AoE attacks from bosses will usually have indicators or tells. This allows you to move or Dodge Roll preemptively before being hit.

Lastly, the Dodge Roll can be used to cancel certain skill animations. If you press a skill with a long channel and find yourself in danger, you can Dodge Roll out of the way instead of committing.

Here's a few final notes on Dodge Roll.

Rolls cannot be cancelled.

Rolling will not be faster than walking.

Rolling is affected by movement speed.

Rolling sets your character unit size to 0. If surrounded by monsters, you can Dodge Roll out of the smallest sliver of space.

Some smaller monsters can be pushed while dodge rolling. (Such as Adorned Beetles)
