Make Awakened Elemental Damage with Attacks worth the price.

Here's the thing though: OP wrote "Highest Elemental Damage Type From Supported Skills Cannot Be Reflected". Clearly, by his own words, it only affects From Supported Skills skills.
Then he wrote: "You will be immune to reflected cold damage from all sources." which does not achieve his desired outcome with his proposed change. His change would in no way, shape or form, cause you to be immune to reflected cold damage from all sources and would in fact, as cited previously, cause the other two elemental types to be reflected, which would make the gem useless if you have any source of extra as %. Then he cites price, which is literally irrelevant, and sprinkles hyperbole. Conclusion: he had an intent, but failed miserably to describe it in a coherent way. He has yet to further elaborate, so this thread seems useless by default. Side note: No, a gem slotted anywhere else shouldn't, ever, affect gems that aren't directly linked to it. Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].

^exactly. Which is why I wrote my very first post and got white knighted and led to try and understand that what was written....wasn't written.
There is absolutely no reason for me to change my stance in this thread. I read what the OP wrote and responded to what was posted. I chose NOT to give him the benefit of the doubt because of the sheer amount of wrong information in the post as a whole. Meanwhile, if others want to respond to things that WEREN'T written...and then claim I'm wrong then yes, they would NOT make me change my mind. I focused on the entire post, focusing ONLY on "reflect from all sources" and ignoring everything else in the post is the reach here. And if an idea is as misguided as this one is, no matter WHAT the actual intent was, it absolutely deserves a meteor being dropped on it. But my first post wasn't really even all that bad...it's most certainly not a meteor by PoE forum standards. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 9, 2025, 12:09:40 AM

" Granting global immunity to 1 element of reflect would be a buff to builds that do a single type of damage via multiple skills. OTOH it would be a nerf to any build that used 2 or 3 types of elemental damage. Since OP is describing the change as an improvement, granting global immunity to a single type of elemental damage is the only interpretation I see that that makes any sense however badly they worded it. (And as hard as some people have been jumping on them, I don't blame them if they looked at this and decided to just walk away.) I disagree with the proposed change; it would nerf more builds than it helps. If global immunity to a single damage type reflection were to be added to skill games I think it'd make more sense on Awaked Added Cold/Fire/Lightning gems; but even there I think I'd rather just save up for Awakened WED on my main skill, keep the +1 skill level, and just not use auxiliary elemental skills if for some reason I have to do a reflect map on an elemental build. That or have a red support on my secondary skill so I can - eventually - use 2x Awakened WED. It's expensive, but as a chase still far cheaper than a mage blood, etc. Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? " See this actually makes sense: (you would have to) remove the +1 skill level, add global immunity to reflected damage of that element. THAT actually makes sense, and it would be the correct gem to put it on. However, most elemental attack builds are using both of these supports already. And very rarely using a secondary skill that would even benefit from the global reflect immunity. It would still see little practical use within builds. The way it currently works is already exceedingly valuable in function, power, and value. There is no reason to change it at all. I've never heard anyone complaining about getting reflect immunity when they upgrade to a lvl 5 awakened WED. *Actually, thinking a bit further, the proper gem to get reflect immunity to a single element would be the Purity aura of said element. Cut the +max resistance down, add in reflect immunity. Not that anyone would use it for that reason, but that's kinda what makes the MOST sense for a global immunity. Especially when Purity of Elements grants immunity to all elemental ailments, getting immunity to reflect of a specific damage type with the lesser purities makes thematic sense. **But to be HONEST honest.....reflect should just be removed from the game entirely. I think all global buffs from supports are made temporary for some programming reason. So it's either "this skill only", or global buff, like lifetap, and you're dead on expiry.

" I'm currently playing PEOGuy's siege ballista; which uses Frenzy + Manaforged Arrows + CoC + Ice Golem + Frost Bite + Frostbomb as automated support/QOL. On a reflect map, that's enough to 1 shot me. My assumption is that OP is playing something similar, but hasn't played enough builds to understand the broader context of the game where their original idea would be a downgrade. I also don't fault them for coming up with a bad way to achieve the goal they want. One of the truisms of software development (and probably any other job where you have to take problems and suggestions from end users) is that it's much easier to say "I have a problem with X" or "Y don't work for me" than to also get "and we can fix is by changing Z" also correct. I do agree with your last point. Back in the day random reflect packs served to slow the game down (like GGG wants) by forcing people to read rare mods and limit damage in non-glass cannon builds to avoid 1-shotting themselves; or use janky and mostly inherently lower DPS builds to avoid it. Todays map mod is just a combination obliviot tax early on, and a gearing tax mid/late game as people buy more expensive items to add immunity to their builds. Edit: While putting immunity on purity of fire/etc would be a more internally consistent effect within game rules, I think it would have the same "screws up more builds than it helps" impact. Maybe on purity of elements instead of ailment immunity; but while there are a number of other ways of getting ailment immunity purity of elements is AFAIK the only one available to most builds at a low investment level so it'd still be a change for the worse. " This makes no sense. The support gem is expensive because many meta skills are using it, thats it. |

In all honesty 6% increased damage is a lot. Especially if you consider all other multiplicative factors .
But yeah many people just get it to be immune to else damage. Main reason why I get mine today •_• Last edited by Jaikai#2905 on Jul 9, 2025, 5:24:40 AM
