So why does currency exchange cost gold?
All things considered, we know that instant trading with currency exchange works very well.
There is no price-fixing. Prices can go up and down during peak/off-peak hours but things are stable over a longer time-frame. There was a lot of insistence from some players that instant trading will crash the market. This has not happened. Overall, in my opinion, instant trading with currency exchange is a huge success and very popular with majority players especially casuals. I am not sure whether it's the friction from gold adding to the stability or the system itself self-stabilises (due to balancing from supply and demand) but there is some weight in the assertion that bots cannot be limited by gold. But we do know that instant trading works in PoE, at least for currency. |

" If you, as a player, have a problem with the gold cost of the currency exchange you're not actually playing the game. Current Build: Penance Brand

"Auction House Goblins" are almost always a negative for any game. GGG is attempting to keep bots and weirdos from trading 16-24 hours a day and minmaxing everything.
I saw a post once in an MMO from someone bragging that they never left town, made an insane amount of money, then hyper-inflated a key resource which crippled the economy of the whole server. The post included a video of them deleting that account and they asked for suggestions on the next resource they should "remove" from the game. |

Can bots even farm maps for gold effectively without being detected? I've only ever seen them trade and spam chat.

" This. Playing the game gives you enough gold to trade for whatever you want. God forbid they actually force you to play the game to use the currency exchange. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
