Is Expedition objectively the worst league mechanic?

I've been running it for about a week and it feels completely underwhelming. Let's recap

- 50% of the time it is worthless because you don't get the two guys you need to get
- putting the explosives is annoying, you either bite the bullet and go for the big one or waste time placing them
- the monsters themselves are incredibly overpowered for no reward whatsoever, they seem to be giving a lot of essences but this is it
- the monster mods are ridiculous, % heal should not be a thing
- it is not at all guaranteed to get the reroll currency you need, it is disgustingly rare
- meanwhile, the artifacts themselves are not rare, but you can't do anything with them because you don't have rerolls
- the chances of getting something out of Tujen are incredibly slim, most of the time it is 2-4 chaos orbs per reroll, I've only ever seen 2 divines after dozens of rerolls
- expedition logbook encounters feel barren and slow
- the chests after you clear the expedition barely give you anything
- I can't stress enough how rare the reroll currency is

Tujen is great.
I run Exp every league and always get good returns.
Well worth it imo.
Frostbomb is helpful.
Are you specced into Exp on the Atlas tree?

Expedition is generally considered a very solid raw currency strategy for starting out. Post your tree and scarab setup and people can help you figure it out.

Expedition is now useless since boats have gone core. You get much better returns from sending boats than you'll ever get out of tujen.

It was once decent to league start, now I would highly recommend to block it.

Quite serious, I mostly play SSF and it is a good way to generate currency along the way while mapping.

To answer to your thread title, no I don't think it is the worst league mechanic at all.


I think Breach is lame.
Harbingers are ok, but not a fan.
Abyss is ho-hum, except for jewels.

I would (and do) pick EXP over these every time.
And Blight, I like Blight a lot.

Expedition is passive income.....
While you do other mech like excavation, excavation alone today got me 8div... so im ok with it.

I think Breach is worst mech..... the ammout of splinters you get is .... nahh..

Expedition is one of the first mechanics i block in the Atlas tree.

Too much micro management and bad RNG to be worth the time.

Expedition is one of the BEST mechanics to run early to mid game. In basically about 10 maps (when I was in yellow maps), Tujen netted me 1 raw div, and about 45 raw c...on top of all the loot that the expeditions themselves gave me. The div was a rarity, but Tujen is pretty regular with the chaos and stacked decks. Rog is a VERY solid crafter for mid-tier items, especially jewels and weapons.

Plus its an excellent source of fractured bases to craft on or sell, and other useful things such as high quality gems, incubators, and uniques.



Based on the Atlas alone, it is better than:
1) Strongboxes (pre-scarab strongboxes are weak weak WEAK)
2) Harbingers
3) Alva
4) Jun
5) Breach
6) Ghosts
