Game not worth playing anymore.
It's totally gone to crap. Only certain builds are playable without dying over and over again. You'd think with as many gems as they have, at least more than a few would be playable.
They increase difficulty of mobs to counter the few gems that work, leaving 90% of the other gems behind. I guess if you enjoy the same mindless garbage over and over again, have fun. For those who actually enjoy using their brain and doing something different, find a new game. And why on earth, would you nerf gems that are useless to begin with? Makes me think the people in charge don't know what's even going on. Last bumped on Jun 21, 2025, 5:14:22 PM

What's the issue with dying over and over though? Are you really planning to make your powerful build from day 1? For example, what I am playing right now is objectively trash, but it makes money and I can play something powerful down the line. Dying in a map means nothing and it really shouldn't this early in the league anyway

I mean you just described the point of the game.
The offer millions of skill/gear combos, players get stronger. They buff mobs to compensate, non-meta builds are weak. New combinations are found, players get stronger. Mobs get buffed, etc. That is the game cycle. If you want a game with a coherent, consistent playstyle and plan, then Elden Ring, Diablo, all are closer. You would play PoE for the chaotic switching. |

" 100% this. Oh, and chasing chickens around Kingsmarch. There's always that. I poop, therefore I am.

" I used to think like you at one point, but then reality hit me. 90% of the gems in the game are only good up until yellow maps (at best). If you want to play yellow maps and above you need to switch to one of those other 10%. Well, some people see no issue with this, but if I want to beat pinnacle bosses with Sweep, it's not possible....at least for normal player; anomalies like Ben should be exclude because he could beat the game with auto attack if he wanted. Anyway, the game is seriously out of balance. Last edited by lupasvasile#5385 on Jun 21, 2025, 8:03:27 AM

Im pretty sure you can make almost anything work by insane power creep this league we got. I will just show two dirt cheap items which trivializes game:
Azadi Crest https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Azadi_Crest with this item pick gladiator, get 75% block and bam, now you have about 99% chance to block Enmity's Embrace https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Enmity%27s_Embrace pick this ring, convert damage to fire, bam now you do 200% more damage. |

" This just isn’t true. The game has been power creeping for years, you can make almost any skill work deep into endgame if you know how to scale it properly. If you’re stuck in yellow maps, it’s not because 90% of gems are useless, it’s because you either don’t know the basics of gearing, defenses, and damage layering, or you refuse to learn. Ben isn’t magic, he just knows the fundamentals inside out. Anyone who does can push ‘bad’ skills as far as they want. Blaming balance when the tools are there is just avoiding the truth, most people don’t want to put in the effort to make their off-meta idea work. So they end up with the option to just copy-paste whatever build is currently the most popular, even if it’s not objectively the best, and still treat it like the only viable ‘meta’ because they refuse, once again, to learn. " Dude, beating pinnacles with Sweep is such a boring and mundane task it's not even worth consideration. You can scale the skill all the way to ubers without much difficulty. If you can't that's entirely on you. Frankly, outside of movement skills and memes like conversion trap i honestly doubt there is a skill in the game that can't be scaled high for ubers on a 50 div budget at most, not to mention if you invest more. |

While its true that some skills and ascendancy classes have been kind of forgotten for a long time now, I don't think the game has ever been in a better spot considering build diversity.
There are near countless possibilities presented to the players by items, passives, runes, tattoos, crafting etc, etc to make builds that can take on pinnacle content. As others said, power creep is again at a point in the game where very few skills are impossible to make work with enough game knowledge and currency thrown at them. Also, there is nothing wrong with not having enough knowledge or experience in poe and struggle to make the skills you like work, but you really shouldn't confuse your lack of understanding with build diversity being in a bad spot. Game is complex as hell and it takes time to be able to make non-meta stuff work. |
