better balance...trials are still bullshit....

The trials are hard to complete at the level they're listed at. Level 75 Sekhemas I would argue is hard at level 75.

But mostly they're a huge time sink linked to RNG.

Pure time waster and showcase of GGG's new direction.
If you don't like em, quit the game now!
More of the same on the way.

Temporal chains and trials.
The 2 things that convinced me its over.

I've done them multiple times and I hated every tedious second.
The irritation factor is the time required to complete coupled with bad RNG on the debuffs you get forced to take potentially wasting an attempt.

This can only happen by horrible pathing choices.

--------

Sekhema is a cake walk when following these 4 pillars (not all 4 neccessarily required but then it's autopilot basically):

1) doing a few runs before your actual playthrough attempt just to get some honor res relics (can also just buy them on trade to save some time)
2) over leveling (e.g. going in at lvl 36 at the end of act 3 when it's open at lvl 26)
3) boons are king - going for nodes that gives them and getting sacred water and visiting merchants during the run or Balbala at the end of each floor to shop them is super important
4) pathing and avoiding the really bad afflictions at all cost - there are ALWAYS paths to avoud the really bad ones, sometimes just taking a less bad affliction (like dmg on room completion is pretty much meaningless when you have 75% honor res) is all it needs

It's possible to get bricked by RNG in Sekhemas. Less so now that they nerfed Worn Sandals and Shattered Shield, but I've seen openers forcing you to choose between Afflictions are Hidden/Gain Random Affliction upon X/Setting your primary defensive layer to 0.

Side note but it is a bit irritating that GGG continually treats the Chaos Inoculation Keystone with Baby Gloves at every opportunity. First they improperly implement bleed, then they outright give CI another immunity along with supplimental nodes to counter stun/ailment drawbacks (without having to invest a single travel node!), and now they convert their build-bricking affliction into a minor annoyance.

Even without considering Afflictions, the Merchant can screw you over sometimes by only selling Relics instead of boons.

Going to disagree...
by default can only see 2 rooms ahead. Ive seen plenty of afflictions that reduce that in some capacity or another. Ive never seen a boon that increased that (not saying there isnt one).
Had plenty of floor plans where by the time you could see a room you wanted to avoid (ex: a room with an affliction to remove evasion and youre playing a hunter)

doing a 3rd or 4th ascension...by the time you hit that 3rd and 4th floor, you can easily find yourself flying blind because of afflictions you couldnt avoid.
In the Sanctum?? league, I avoided this because it was huge time waster and the rewards were never worth the risk.

Trial of Chaos is even more restricting and that shit starts to add up after 5 or 6 rounds.
I categorically HATED the ultimatum mechanic during that league.

Having said that. I found 3rd and 4th ascensions generally easier because my build is already there and I was overleveled by 10+ because RNG... took that long to get the tokens (technically I could have bought one but RNG is the point). 1st and 2cd your build isnt developed yet. My Monk cant get past the 2cd ascension because he takes a minute to get Frenzy charges going. By then hes swamped and dead.

I wholeheartedly agree

getting screwed by bad rng on debuffs is not challenging... its horseshit. game is dead now. so really, who cares.
