Why was Ignite nerfed?
You ask like there is a real reason to tell you, rather than a bunch of beginner game designers assigned to PoE1 to keep it alive moving random things around so that things feel somewhat new.
(Not meant as an insult to anyone, everyone is a beginner at things at some point.) |

" Is that a serious comment ? You know ignite is trash already right (I mean compared to other things) ? You know DoT cap right ? You know the required amount of investment required to reach DoT cap ? With similar investment I can reach 200M dps with other skills. So when you compare to other skills and archetypes, why should Ignite be made worse ? Ofc I'm asking for meta changes, but not nerfing already weak skills/archetypes... They could have added the new defensive line to the already existing Shaper of Flames, AND STILL it would have been weaker than 50% of other shit in the game... rofl... Well actually not funny. Affliction and Necropolis worst leagues ever. The current game design has slowly turned this game into a loot-shower fest, chase uniques are way too available; and obtaining chase items through stacked decks and valdo's boxes simply isn't fun.

Your response shows why exactly it needed to be gone.
You treat change to Elementalist as nerf to Ignite. Why? Because you wouldnt even think about playing Ignite on something else than Elementalist. THey want to get rid such things. THey dont want you to think that there is only one option to play certain archetype. |

" I don't mind ascendancies having strong identity. Also Explode Chieftain was ignite build and EA Ballista Champion still exists. So there are exceptions even with strong incentives and identities. Last edited by SunL4D2#6224 on Jun 9, 2025, 6:28:20 AM

" Most ignite builds already used fire damage. That 25% more multiplier will be missed. Getting just enough damage was enough to play dot builds comfortably and now it's harder. Last edited by SunL4D2#6224 on Jun 9, 2025, 6:27:46 AM

If you already used fire damage you'll get more damage from the other changes but you also could have done bigger ignites not as elementalist so I don't get it.
The builds that will lose out are split damage type builds that would nudge their fire to be top because they can't drop the notable so get the damage back, for everyone else I think it winds out fairly similar. Last edited by Draegnarrr#2823 on Jun 9, 2025, 6:38:13 AM

" But they do. They dont want to pigeonhole ascendencies, they want every archetype to be viable with multiple diffrent classes w/o everyone instantly thinking "yeah this one is definitely the best one". |

" i cant remember exactly but i think i had the fire node, convergence and the elemental aegis node as the last one for a little defence on my ignite build. now im getting defence from the ignite node ill probably drop the aegis thing and get the shock node which will give me back the 25% more damage. so all in all will probably get the same damage and more defence from the ascendancy, and then ill have to use one of those stupid little golems which are threatening to be use one on every character bullshit again sadly and probably end up with a bit more dps and defence overall? i think its fine, its a good change actually. its stopped the elementalist being too much of a go to pick for ignite as people have said, its giving her more defence in her nodes which she needed and its making her theme more mastering elements now where you can do shock, ignite etc with other elements and not feel like ur wasting the power of your nodes. so builds got more diversity overall and she specifically got a bit more personality with a better rounded set of capabilities. i dont think elementalist has ever really felt like it quite came together for me but now it seems really coherent and healthy. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
