When I first saw The Spire of Ire I knew I wanted to make a build around it. I started with Vinidiction’s Whirling Slash Lich build (https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/builds/whirling-slash-lich-vinidiction) and switched some of the fire/area skill points to chaos nodes. 19 points gives 211% chaos damage. I also switched the bleed & knockback gems in whirling slash in favor of Envenom + Comorbidity to go with the chaos damage. The foundation is awesome but also lacking projectiles & charges to trigger the Chaotic Infusion on the spear. For the projectile, Whirlwind Lance works perfectly to setup the initial whirlwind as well as taking advantage of the Chaotic Infusion. Projectile check, on to charges.

Most infusion builds generate charges with Combat Frenzy freeze/electrocutes. That didn’t seem to fit with the foundations of this build, so I came up with something else. I used Cast on Ignite + Profane Ritual to generate power charges, adding Contagion and Essence Drain for the full chaos spell kit. Ok cool, charges generated but there’s not a lot this build can do with power charges since Resolute Technique eliminates crits. The answer was to take the Resonance keystone to transform the power charges into endurance charges. These are used by Infernal Cry to trigger Chaotic Infusion as well as boost both whirling slash and whirlwind lance.

At this point the build is a delicious sunday, but still needed a cherry on top. I added Font of Rage and Rageforged to Whirlwind Lance to make the initial whirlwind generate infinite rage and burn rage for extra damage on Chaotic Infusion charged lances. Enraged Warcry gets added to Infernal Cry for bigger hits and poisons all around.

Essential Gear (144 spirit needed):
Spire of Ire
Blackflame (for Incinerate & Burning Inscription conversion to chaos)
Atziri’s Disdain (Life to ES + mana regen conversion)
Essentia Sanguis (turns the spear's leech into ES leech)
Wondertrap (50% rarity, use Visage of Ayah + Lifetap support gem to lower life)
Waveshaper (replace with the biggest rare you can afford later)
Ligurium Talisman (replace with a +3 spell 44+ spirit rare later)
Fireflower + Crown of Victor (for initial Incinerate swapping)
Chiming Staff with +7 fire skills and fire/spell damage (weapon set 2)
Rares for the rest, prioritize ES, resists, life, chaos damage, and rarity.

Jewels: Elemental Equilibrium From Nothing Diamond for Stimulants
The other 7 (SEVEN!) jewels need to focus on only two stats, Energy Shield and Magnitude of Ailments which increases both the ignite and poison. Add Ignite Chance and Ailment Chance for the ideal gem for the Phylactery slot, but you can pick the rest up for a couple EX if you’re not picky. All together that’s up to 160% ES and 120% magnitude.

Gems:
Incinerate: Searing Flames, Concentrated Effect, Considered Casting, Burgeon, Hourglass)
Whirlwind Lance: Expanse, Magnified Effect, Reach, Font of Rage, Rageforged
Whirling Slash: Martial Tempo, Energy Barrier, Envenom, Comorbidity, [Volcanic Eruption (safe) or Volatile Power (risky)]
Chaotic Infusion: Chaos Infusion, Longshot, Culling, Bludgeon
Cast on Ignite: Profane Ritual, Contagion, Essence Drain, Fluke, Inspiration
Infernal Cry: Enraged Warcry, Tireless, Twofold, Perpetual Charge, Dazing Cry
Blasphemy: Despair, Ritual Curse
Withering Presence: Persistence, Chaos Mastery
Convalescence (weapon set 2): Ingenuity, Second Wind, Mysticism (more incinerate damage)
Blink (weapon set 2): Arcane Tempo, Mobility

Skill Rotation:
Equip Incinerate gear > Sigil of Power > Incinerate until 8 Incinerate stacks & 4 Sigil stacks > Whirlwind Lance > Whirling Slash to pick up the whirlwind > gear swap > kill first pack to generate charges.
Loop [Infernal Cry > Whirlwind Lance > Whirling Slash] ad infinitum.

Update (06/09): For Incinerate, I replaced Zenith with Considered Casting. For Cast on Ignite, I filled the blank left by Considered Casting with Swift Affliction. I dropped Herald of Plague entirely in favor of a bigger body armor. I replaced it with Blink on weapon set 2 to help extractions and out of combat mobility. Updated a couple pieces of gear from my post below.

Update (06/12): Updated supports for Whirling Slash, Cast on Ignite, and Infernal Cry. See post below.

Update (06/16) Updated Volcanic Eruption as Whirling Slash's last support.

I wanted to make a Chayula Monk with it but I'll try Lich.

It just got buffed in the new patch, (spire of ire).
I dropped a divine into my spear to get the post-patch buff. It dropped from 20% speed down to 17%, but it rolled a near-perfect 195-330 chaos damage. Currently melting T14 maps.

Have you built it yet and can you take a picture of it for me?
I have built it, currently at level 88 and easily blowing through all maps. You can check out the multiple videos posted by Vindication to get an idea of how it plays. I will note that the build doesn't really shine until lv78 when you can use the Spire. For leveling I would suggest Vinidcation's guide and Saitha's or Skysliver spears to get a feel for the build. Alternatively, you could level using a standard minion or chaos dot build. This is what I did since the build requires a good number of skill points and gear to really click.

I did make some more gear & passive changes. I replaced my gloves with Essentia Sanguis. This turns the chaos life leech from the spear into energy shield leech. Since this keeps energy shield topped off, I changed the 4 point Convalescence cluster to the 4 point Ancient Aegis cluster. My energy shield is sitting at 11k with still a bit more room to grow with a 1k+ chest upgrade and two more jewel slots yet to go. I also replaced my boots with Wondertrap for 50% low-life rarity (use Visage of Ayah + Lifetap support gem to lower life, then switch back to Atziri). I had resists capped from my other gear, so I popped a couple Bear Talismans into my Atziri for another 16% area of effect.

Jo, did you have a clip ? Sounds amazing
Still waiting...
Sorry, I'm playing on PS5 and don't even have a YouTube account, so I'm not sure how to make a clip. I can look into it later this weekend. For now, I'll just provide a link to Vinidiction's YouTube video of his build since it's the foundation for this one.

Ok, thanks bro.
Last night I let Chaos take the wheel and it steered the build into a new dimension. In the Cast on Ignite setup I removed Burning Inscription (to prevent it from blocking the whirlwind ignites) as well as Profusion (don't need extra charge generation). I replaced them with Contagion and Essence Drain as well as Inspiration and Fluke (chaos!) supports. So now my ignites are triggering the whole arsenal of chaos spells. I added the Dazing Cry to Infernal Cry.

The most significant change was I removed Corrosion from Whirling Slash and replaced it with Volatile Power. Now Infernal Cry also boosts chaos damage for the COI spells. There's no cap on this, so it's purely dependent on how many times Tireless support on Infernal Cry procs. I've seen up to 75% extra chaos damage just in the past 24 hours. However, this does result in damage being taken at the end of the effect. It's usually about 25% of ES, nothing the energy shield leech can't compensate for. However, the bigger the damage gets the bigger the backlash, which has made for some clenching moments as you'll see below. Is the juice worth the squeeze? I'm not sure, but it fits the build thematically so I'm keeping it. The feint of heart can stick to Corrosion.

I also lucked upon a cheap Dance With Death From Nothing diamond and now have my last 3 weapon set 1 skill points in Acceleration, Roll and Strike, and Focused Thrust. I switched my amulet anointment to Stimulants. I also took a crash course in PS5 video editing and finally made a YouTube account, so here's a clip.
Enjoy!
