" Speed in video games is an illusion made real by comparisons. It's about proportions. If I made the character half the size with double the speed of their running animation they would "feel" faster. Just like when you get big in PoE1 you "feel" slower. Movement Speed isn't a cure all to these problems and can make new ones. Enemy Movement Speed is one I highly disagree with in concept and in the reasoning we were given for it. Johnathan said if they made enemies slower then players would run past them. This is only going to happen when said enemies have no value to kill and esp when you create a chase situation for going after bosses. Diablo 1 didn't have this issue despite having spam teleport as an option. It's not like I'm saying "Movement bad". I take issue with armor reducing movement speed and I think movement speed on boots is pointless. I feel most a build's mobility should come from the skills and weapons used. Perhaps a small amount from passives. When a skill called "Escapist Shot" covers less ground and is slower than a Deadeye simply moving. You know something is off. " I fully agree that movement speed isn't a cure to all these problems. I also don't think more movement speed wouldn't help any of the issues listed in the original post. I've been playing warrior with shield since the start and even at level 97 with extremely high-end gear, I'm only at +7.8% movement speed. If I ever get a movement buff from a shrine, the game becomes so much more enjoyable to play. Especially during breaches. I've just accepted that I move at a snail's pace compared to most other classes/builds. |
