How does Heist work in the game?
" You can find my final post on the Diablo 4 forums by searching for “you did way of the three wrong” Take a minute to look at how it still exists despite what I said. Usually when you say something like that about a community manager the post gets removed and you get banned ;) It’s nothing personal, it’s all just ways for me to test theories against a backdrop and see what sticks. As they say, I’m playing 5d chess. Last edited by Lore#3772 on May 25, 2025, 9:41:11 AM

" So far the vibe I get is that everyone thinks I’m crazy, I’m not sure how you feel about it. However after more research into lore and the heist target page and looking at poe2 campaign I can say that there is a definitive link to the campaign and heist targets. Whether this link is coincidence or not is the hard part. Not all heist targets seem reflectory of a quest item in game. However a good chunk of them do. All of the heist targets have lore that seems to go deeper than it appears. I also noticed in act 3 we pretty much get hooded one 2.0 with doryani. Is it possible that doryani becomes the hooded one later? This whole game campaign story gives me that time traveler book vibe where he tries to save his wife and fails over and over only to go into the far future and find a version of himself ruling the world with an iron fist. Regardless all the characters we meet during campaign seem to be rooted in evil, there isn’t a hero to be seen except the dead person we get the final letter from. It’s also worth noting how the “nature” of the entire world of poe2 is fighting against us. The devs have leveraged the old Diablo feeling of “supporting evil while simultaneously feeling like you are achieving the good outcome” Which was the best part of Diablo genre of gaming tbh. The fact we were used as tools all along and only realize it in hindsight. With a secret quest that can make us the hero. For those of you who don’t know in Diablo 2 when you fight Mephisto after Diablo goes into the portal, Mephisto wants you to chase Diablo. Mephisto staying behind isn’t to stop you from going after Diablo, it’s to ensure you follow Diablo. The secret ending of Diablo 2 is never going after Diablo. At this point you have become the hero. Anyway poe2 secret quest seems to be rooted in the campaign if anywhere at all. Which makes sense, everyone blasts campaign and doesn’t take their time. Everyone cashes in their side quest items for the ele res or skill points. To hold an entire inventory of side quest items/main quest items at the right juncture wouldn’t be an accident ever. It’s perfect design wise. If I’m wrong it’s just wasted design space that could have been legendary and game defining as well as genre defining. I dont think I’m wrong but anything is possible. Could just be coincidence and they wrote the poe2 story based on heist mechanic for whatever reason. Also worth noting in act 3 Alva and Oswald and others both talk about Lost adventurers that came before you, Ill-fated adventurer or whatever is an enemy NPC you fight during act 3. I’m pretty sure the whole campaign has been a trick conceived to make the player character break seals and defeat guardian NPC that the evils of the world could not. With the final part of the campaign culminating in creating the ultimate circumstances for evil. Maybe mapping is just conquering more area for evil/chaos. I did initially wonder why the miller wanted to get into the city so badly. In the next zone over that you can only access from within the city you’ll find near Beira the enemy NPC logged timber. I’m guessing our buddy the miller might have been the real hero. He only wanted to pass through the town. But the town became controlled by evil recently, the evil of una and Finn. This can be shown through renlys dedication to Una. Also it’s as if una’s lute can control people. Last edited by Lore#3772 on May 26, 2025, 8:31:09 AM

" You've got an aggressive way of giving information, but I've followed enough of your posts that I've grown to enjoy it and know you've done the hours of research to back stuff up. With stuff like lore or hidden/inferred lore its hard to determine when someone else is following a thread theyve yet to see themselves or grasping at straws. I appreciate that you do what you do. " This part makes me feel the heist leader plays a role as they are the ones deciding what targets are valuable and some of them only hold personal value to them " My bias hopes not, I dont like the trope of 'this character was also this other character all along', but I could see it. Eg, Brash thaumaturge playing God accidebtally transforms themselves into gid-like being that regrets all the 'sins' they've done. Both Doryani and sin are long established characters, sounds tricky to pull off. " I think that's part of how they designed the setting way back in early poe1 days. Theres a great video presentation by Chris Wilson made about making poe. He briefly describes the philosophy of what the players role in the overall world is. He makes it clear that we're not meant to be heroes but outcasts focusing on our survival in a dangerous world. -- At the moment my stance on poe2 secrets is similar to what it was for D4 at release. Theyve got references to secrets (albino rhoa feather) but I don't think they've been flushed out / added to the game yet. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" If you listen to that YouTube video I sent above this comment it kinda mimics the theme of poe as a whole I think. It’s interesting you note Chris Williamson and how he stated we aren’t hero’s because we are worried about our own survival. That’s what the whole YouTube video is about. " Also everyone is overlooking the fact GGG has gone out of their way to try to stop the trolling on my posts specifically. In a non typical fashion. Wonder why that is? I mean if I’m wrong and there is no secret quest aren’t the GGG mods trolling me? I mean correct me if I’m wrong but the moderators seem more than indifferent.
