It's amazing to me that people feel the need to correct me on an issue I have the knowledge on. I literally shared my experience. Most of you just made up something to make it seem like you're right. It's kinda pathetic. Sorry, next time I just won't try to share that Steam, who is NOTORIOUS for this sh*t in every other game that relies on central servers including every MMO it runs, has done it again. And all those who might have found help can just be called losers for their game time for problems that were the fault of steam.

" But you didn't only share your experience. You also simultaneously chose to proactively dismiss the experience of literally every other member of the Path of Exile community. I mean, some of us have been using both the Steam and standalone clients since 2013. To put it somewhat euphemistically, you're not exactly being modest when suggesting with a straight face that you have noticed a game-breaking issue that the rest of us have... just missed. I've heard the old adage (which I disagree with) that "the plural of 'anecdote' is 'data'". You, instead, appear to be rather inexplicably arguing that "the singular form of 'anecdotes' is 'data'" - where your experience has to be acknowledged, and the contrary experiences anyone else has had need to be suppressed or ignored. It's just a totally untenable position to hold. Try to understand that people have been playing Path of Exile for more than a decade, and millions of people have installed at least one of its game clients - with likely at least tens of thousands having at one point switched from one to another. Nobody is attacking the experience that you have claimed to have. But we're not prepared to accept your assertion - based on literally no evidence whatsoever - that it is a global phenomenon which would be equally true for the rest of us. " It doesn't help that you repeatedly make claims such as this that suggest a highly limited knowledge of technical matters on your part which inherently undermines your claims. What does 'running' an MMO entail - and which MMO do you believe Valve "runs" ? I ask because I would wager the common consensus would be Valve does not run any MMOs. Let's consider shooters. I could appreciate someone calling PlanetSide 2 an MMO. But Team Fortress 2? No. TF2 relies heavily upon map instances each of which have a very low number of players. If you are instead attempting to portray Valve as 'running' any game that people play through Steam, then... no. You don't 'run a game' by providing update servers, an in-game overlay, and an API for achievements. Valve did not contribute in any way to GGG's game engine, their net code, the same game servers you connect to regardless of which client you use, etc. I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

Yeah, Steam's been having weird problems recently.
I had to refund a game I bought because no matter what I did, Steam refused to download it without the download stopping near the end and then failing. Just use the standalone PoE client like I do. |

Just curious, are you aware that the Steam client is basically the same as the standalone one? The only real difference is the login skip.
Issues like yours are more likely from corrupted files, which can happen on either client. Reinstalling probably just fixed it. Windows 11, 9950X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR5, 14,100 MB/s SSD, 15,360x2160p @240Hz Ultra 4K Gaming & Workspace Powerhouse

Same clients, same GGG servers. Placebo effect.

" "You have the knowledge on"? What do you mean? Why is your "knowledge" more accurate than my knowledge? I've never had an issue with the steam version, like the majority of PoE1 players. ALL of those players could also say "I have the knowledge". We are "correcting" ONE man's experience. You are "correcting" THOUSANDS of people's experience. But sure, the thousands of Steam users are wrong, you are right - it's DEFNITELY Steam, and not some internal conflict on your computer, be that software or hardware - or the MASSIVE issues GGG have on their servers lately. I need some coffee. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
