Shields not adding defense?

My guy, I specifically said I did not mean anyone on the FORUM. My point was that GGG could use an English lesson. No insult was meant for you and I understand you are simply showing the meaning of the wording as is.

Outside of misunderstandings, I believe the point they were trying to make is that GGG uses some deliberately specific wordings to differentiate the meanings of modifier text.

Examples:

"% increased" vs. "% more"

"% increased Critical Strike Chance" vs. "+2% to Critical Strike Chance" (affects base chance)

"+1 to (base) value"

"+1 to maximum value" / "+1 to minimum value"

They may sometimes seem ambiguous without further context, but one learns over time how it works.

I totally get that you are suggesting where it may seem vague or ambiguous to a new player.


The wording of descriptive text in Path of Exile can be very particular and gets complex when describing the many ways of modifying an attribute. While this can easily result in ambiguity, they do try to be consistent with their wording to offset that.

They also have word count pressure when describing complicated skills and modifiers, to make it easier to process the information dump for a given rare item.
