But there is still a question about tier of items. An item tier 4 could be good with this new terminology, but it could be without best affix as "+X to lvl of all skills".

So with this new terminology, a "tier 1" item could mean item has at least 1 affix T1. Good for recombinator, but maybe a bad item with only T10-12 for other affixes...

I really think some "special" affixes like MS on boots, +X of all skills (for weapons/shield/amulet) and maybe +XX% of chaos rez, need to be called "special affixes".
For other affixes, they all need to have the same number of tier (10 ?).

Like this, you could track a tier of item (ex : a tier 3 have at least, all affix T3 or better) with a special symbol to say if this item has a special affix or not.

But to be honest, with such mechanic, you would lose the pleasure to discover your item has some really good affixes !!!

I can't tell when an item is actually good without looking at some website telling me how high the number goes.
(I don't) So itemization as a whole feels frustrating and dumb

It's one like a hundred mind boggling changes in poe2.

+1. While there are several arguments to be made in favor of the current system, none of them compare to the opportunity cost of lost clarity. One of the most striking parts of PoE2's design is how much information it gives you about its systems, and how clear that information is. Except in this case.

Pretty sure in one of the Q&A sessions they said they weren't opposed to reversing it. Likely they just haven't gotten around to it or forgot about it because of every other thing going on lately.
