The game is only left with spear players now

Fun. Great. One button gameplay 🙂. Need more of those!

Exaaactly.
i think early league, 'hardwork/comboplay' should be the expected gameplay and once you acquire items, it should move towards 1 button gameplay. this would make meaningful upgrades. "earned comfort"

one button gameplay should be expensive
combo play should be cheap
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL

For me what they do in 0.3 will absolutely tell me whether I continue to invest time and money in this game.

If their goal is to keep all classes where they are at right now and then bring things like LS down to that level I’m probably completely out of the game after that.

If they show that they actually want people to have some fun by buffing the other classes and bringing LS down to that level (basically trying to balance play to somewhere in between current LS and the rest of the classes) I’m still in.

I certainly am feeling like I may have been tricked/scammed/bamboozled investing in the game with 0.1 then going to 0.2. That’s even understanding the fact that it’s in EA. 0.2 took the game in a COMPLETELY different direction that 0.1. It’s like investing in a chess EA game then they switch it from chess to Go. Yes you expect the game to grow and change in EA, but the entire game going in an entirely different direction than what was initially sold isn’t great and should only be done as a last resort for a failing EA (which 0.1 absolutely was not).

Quite frankly I would not have bought supporter packs if EA launched with the 0.2 class/mob balance. Fingers crossed for 0.3 but I’m still nervous just because of the tone of the ziz interview. Felt like GGG has to be dragged by their hair kicking and screaming the entire way into making a fun game.

The lack of buffs to the clearly underperforming classes (or even acknowledgement those classes are underperforming) is profoundly concerning.

I feel like these two statements directly contradict one another. If you understand it's in EA then you would understand that trying to accurately judge the direction of the game based on the second build is a pointless exercise.

This would be like agreeing to accompany your friend on a very long road trip spanning many days and thousands of miles and then at the second intersection while still in your neighborhood they turn left and you go "All right, now I'm just completely confused. Where the hell are we even going? You need to get back on track!"

A rational response from your friend in this scenario would be "Dude, holy shit. We literally just left the house. Calm tf down."

Like I don't know what more needs to be said about this - they have very clearly and publicly addressed the fact that they are behind the ball on balance because they didn't expect the EA launch to be this popular. They have said the current state of balance is not reflective of any long term plan but is just them trying to catch up. In the meantime things are going to be pretty janky for awhile. These forums going on and on about balance in 0.2 as if it's a sign of things to come and a deliberate and coordinated step on a pre-planned route when GGG has literally said it's just the best they could throw together because they're scrambling is just I don't know - it sure as hell isn't productive though.

Also guy, come on. You know this analogy is absolutely absurd. The only thing those two games have in common is the number of players, turn-taking, and that the board has squares on it (I guess the colors of the pieces). You know full well that's not a good analogy for the differences between 0.1 and 0.2.

Please read what I actually said rather than bending over backwards to come up with the easiest to argue against version of it (strawman). I’m not judging the game on 0.2, but it has me nervous and I will be judging the direction they are trying to take the game in 0.3.

You can feel my analogy is absurd, but feelings are outweighed by facts and numbers (like steam reviews).

Kerchunk has like 3 poe1 characters despite joining the community in 2013. And he has like 710 posts. Which means that he is 100% a forum warrior and lacks the real context. I would not take his words too seriously.

Yes, I'm having fun too. I create maps with a maximum of suffixes, coat them with dillerium, and place them in the zones of influence of three or four towers.

It's very funny to watch how one-button builds with a thunder spear can't figure out why their tactic of pressing one button and killing all the mobs on the map doesn't work anymore.

Then they die and leave the group) I'm not that angry, but I want an interesting game and interesting gameplay, and a dumb clicker in the style of - run ahead and press the button.
Not true. I'm playing maces because I hate myself

Imagine that in a solo game you obsess over what other people you dont even watch play in the world do

That's just true brainrot.

Lol, i think the same. It's like you can't play other skills, don't make any sense.

Btw I played right into TXV

Gathering storm monk
Sunder warbringer
Amazon storm lance+thunderous leap

And now I'm in my double companion Break armour tactician, right now at the start of the endgame (in a fresh start)

I don't know if the people doesn't know how to make builds and are trying to copy the meta builds or they are just crying babies because can't oneshot everything.

You know the problem with this game? You make these "OP" chars. Let's just say you somehow acquire 2 mirrors and you make this 2 mirror mighty char.

what will you do? is this 2 mirror build gonna enable you to attain more than 2 mirrors? no you're gonna still do this slow-ass walking in game, watch exalts drop... or otherwise spam repeat some boring boss only to drop more inflated items.

with this in mind, what sort of retention is to be expected here?

Why I have to compare my gameplay to the gameplay of others? I like my pacing of the game, i'm not rushing, just enjoying the progression. The monk progression was quite faster than the other chararcters i made, but that's not a problem for the other characters, because they were fun to play. I don't mind about "exalts per hour" or something like that. I need to xp up, be careful about not dying, and climb the waystone tiers until i met the pinnacle content (which i did with 96h into the monk)

I think the problem is people compare their gameplays with each others. I don't enjoy 5 seconds (or even 30 seconds) bossfights, they made me feel "ok good fight i guess". I like when i have to learn the mechanics, build the stun bar, empower and cast my hammer of the gods... i can do all of that hours and hours, and the progression would be fine for me. In that regard, the fight vs Xesht or Zakaroth were one of my favourites: they were hard but achievable, at my own pace.
