Tencent is what ruined PoE 1

Nah, GGG decided to sacrifice PoE1 on the altar of rollslop. And so I won't spend any money on them ever again.
Games owned by Tencent are creatively independent, Tencent doesn't dictate how the game should be.

There are many other games out there that were purchased by Tencent and yet, they are thriving.

Pff, who even plays Standard?
Part of the reason why, yes... though not the entire reason.
Never forget the Alt Qual Gem deletion, the Ex > Div swap and loss of various crafting methods.

Revive Metamorph/Crucible. Refine Sentinel/Kalandra content. Bring back legacy modifiers/values.

Where's my EShroud buff?

Exactly this.
Tencent’s just doing what investors do, throwing money at profitable and thriving games so they can make more money. Shocking, I know.
They’re not sitting in some boardroom rewriting scripts or designing levels. But apparently that concept is way too advanced for the crowd still stuck on tired Tencent memes and thinking every investment means creative mind control. It’s basic business, not a Bond villain plot. xD

I honestly think that you forgot to read the OP - there I explain why do I believe Tencent's ruining PoE even though Tencent has no creative control over GGG.

you do realize your entire OP is a contradiction right?

1. You claim "originally" GGG cared only about the "vision" (ie: NOT the players)
2. Then, GGG realized that the real world doesn't work like that: they need money to operate the game, and money requires players. So they capitulated on certain things to appease the playerbase.
3. You then claim that GGG gave them money, so they can return to their "vision" and screw the players again.

And yet.....the entire reason there are two games instead of 1, and the entire reason behind EVERY decision GGG makes is to retain and keep MORE players. Their motivator now more than ever is money. They don't just "have all the money they could ever need to do whatever they want". That isn't how investment works lol.

Investment assumes and DEMANDS profits. Period. There is no other type of investment. GGG isn't a non-profit. Tencent isn't a non-profit. You are completely flat out wrong in your OP and it doesn't warrant any further discussion.

Your post isn't even a conspiracy theory as I mentioned earlier.....it's just a wrong analysis, pure and simple. It lacks understanding of tencent as a company, GGG as a company, PoE and PoE 2 as products, and investment as a type of "money".

Starting anew....with PoE 2

If they wanted to retain players, they wouldn't do PR disaster after PR disaster after PR disaster.

most likely there's still a Tencent money stream going into GGG

It is the other way around.

If it is the other way around, then I have absolutely no idea why is GGG quadrupling down on killing its golden goose.

Becuase of VISION. Duh.
PoE1 is not the golden goose, guys. Let's please not delude ourselves here.

PoE2 has 50k active users right now. The only time PoE1 gets that many is when a new league launches, but immediately dies off past the first month.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

GGG has plenty of creativity to offer, as evidenced by the plot of the PoE2 campaign. What they lack is staff size to work on both games simultaneously, hence why PoE1 is not maintaining a consistent update schedule like it used to.

This just simply isn't true. And I actually laughed at the fact that you used the PLOT of PoE 2 to show that they do...the plot can be (and probably was) written by AI. We are talking YEARS of development here, not a few months. The release of the game is NOT the only development timeframe. They constantly recycle the same ideas over and over again, for a good 4 years now. They make the same errors over and over again. They nerf and buff to create the "illusion" of creativity. They release functionally broken new skills under the guise of "new", which go unused. They haven't released an endgame expansion in a VERY long time.

This last league was an idle simulator, the laziest possible idea a game developer can lean on. And we've been stuck with it for a year. Sure, lack of manpower played a tiny role, but they had NOTHING in the storehouse to even tease. There were zero ideas for 3.26. They said as much in their multiple apologies.

And then there's PoE 2.....a brand new game that....recycles old content from PoE 1, almost entirely. PoE 2 has been in development at least 6 years, if not longer. It should have been ENTIRELY new, not less than 50%.

The evidence we have been presented since months before the release of PoE2, throughout the release of PoE 2, and within PoE 1 for multiple years shows the well of creativity is drying up. The quality control is drying up. The talent is simply not there anymore. Games have a finite lifetime and PoE 1 is reaching "completion". PoE 2 is just simply a mess, and they DO have the manpower for that. That shows how bad the creativity and talent pool is.

To the guy who said they would have already brought back Legacy: they brought back HOW MANY previous leagues and events in the last year? Kalandra, Sentinel, Necropolis, Shifting Stones (event), Atlas Invasion (event), etc. They already ARE bringing back old content instead of creating new. Even Phrecia was, as they described it, a collection of garbage bin ideas.

Can't convince people to wake up when they are pretending to be asleep.
