Not another ExSea is quitting POE thread - TLDR I'm loving LE

I'm actually surprised, especially as you have at least 1 level 100.

The first time I did it was just to see if I could, the second was to prove to myself it wasn't a fluke (and never feel the need to have to again)
Yep, totally over league play.

Don't be; I just don't care about them. Hell, some leagues I end with challenges like "Use a Chance Orb on an item" undone.

thats a level of uncare that i find refreshingly good.

i ve been over enthusiastic about this game for the longest time. my FOMO was over the top.

it does highlight why sometimes our opinions dont align tho as we come from 2 directly opposite point of views/experiences.

Yeah, I view PoE1 as a sandbox. A playground where you as a player can find your own fun, and where you don't feel 'forced' to do a, b and c like the forum police and the youtubers tell you to. We need to chase the goals we want to chase, and not necessarily the goals GGG, the forum or the youtubers tell you to chase - and challenges have always seemed stupid to me.

And while PoE and GGG use FOMO as a tool, it's very possible to not give a shit.

tl;dr

Asked ChatGPT to sum it up ;)

"The author expresses deep disillusionment with Path of Exile (POE), a game he played and financially supported for over a decade, realizing in hindsight that he tolerated many frustrating design choices simply due to a lack of better alternatives. After switching to Last Epoch (LE), he found it far more enjoyable thanks to smoother progression, rewarding crafting, and less punishing systems, despite its weaker graphics and class limitations. He criticizes POE for its reliance on trade, excessive friction, and outdated design philosophies that prioritize grind over fun. While he still appreciates POE’s boss fights, music, and emotional impact, he feels GGG has lost direction and no longer makes the game he once hoped it would become. Though he admits he might return someday, right now there's nothing in POE that makes him want to play again."

PoE 2 copied a few things from LE's endgame and made me smile/laugh when they revealed the PiE 2 endgame back in december. Also chat in PoE twitch channel at reveal day spammed (paraphrasing) "LE endgame","LE maps", etc.

-Towers = Beacons
-The way the endgame map looks with these connections
-Corruption (reverse here bit still)
-Lost map rewards when dying

Fun Fact about it : This is also why many people who love PoE1 hate the PoE2 endgame.

GGG was brilliant in inventing an original mapping system for PoE1 that surpassed anything created in other games of the genre.
While they had a unique opportunity to create an even better endgame system for PoE2, they settled for copying content from another game that is struggling to retain its players...
@Phrazz

NGL, GGG really cooked with the latest patch. i probably will skip the league but will probably come back to try out standard. the amount of stuff on standard alone is enough for me to check it out without needing to farm anything significantly

Word.
oh man i really miss going into this forum and commenting, giving suggestions etc.

but today, for nostalgia's sake. i m posting this post.

i've finally come to accept that many modern diablo likes nowadays simply do not scratch my itch.

poe started off being something i loved and evolved into something that i didnt.

poe2 had many things that i liked. such as actual solid true melee gameplay and many bosses could be outskilled if you learned their moveset.

poe2 had the potential to set a new playing field of more deliberate/slow gameplay. instead, it has effectively turned into another poe1 where players should do a gazillion dps or else risk getting burst down by enemies in a manner that they simply cannot react to.

i m not here to debate. i've done that for years. i m fine with people disagreeing and i m used to being slighted on by other forummers.

i've been lurking on the subreddit/forums. not only for poe, but for LE and other D-likes too. i keep seeing all the games being just blasters.

i find it quite ironic. when i was younger i used to look at mobile games with disdain especially when they have things such as auto combat. i usually very condescendingly scoff at such games. if you're gonna auto play, why play at all?

i also used to scoff at games where you only had a few classes and only had a few skills. why so many limits? i want to make my character unique! i want to learn the mechanics and make him strong. i similarly scoffed at D4 for having a skill twig.

but of recent times my views have changed. what difference is there between POE and an autoplay game? if we're playing an optimized build, all we're doing is blasting the entire screen and usually this requires us to just HOLD a button down.

and whats the point of POE's massive skilltree when its so much easier to just follow a build someone put up online?

i've been playing other games and the gameplay i want is largely found in roguelites/likes. i should have realized this when i played sanctum (on release). i loved sanctum on release (mostly) and a big part of it had to do with the game being much more skill based. NRFTW and TQ2 also has pretty solid true melee combat

and i've probably posted about this previously. just that i've finally done with any hopium or copium i had for modern d-like genre. most of the modern d-likes are just NOT for me. i'm done trying to yell at the clouds hoping something different would happen. i've already wasted 10 years of my life and a buttload of money supporting GGG for ultimately games they i did not want/enjoy. yes, sound silly, how does one play a game 10 years if they dont enjoy it. its the same reason why couples remain in toxic or even abusive relationships. there are many things i LOVE about POE and i always hopes that POE changed to suit me more. so many years of hopium and copium. POE2 was always the "promised prince". and it really appeared that way but i see the same patterns emerging. the promised prince will just end up the same as its predecessor. tho there are many things that in my personal opinion are stuff that i vastly prefer over poe1. the end result is the same. just another blaster.

as mentioned i've been lurking a huge lot. never ever actually playing. usually people would jokingly or even mockingly respond to my many GOODBYE POE FOREVER THIS TIME FOR REAL FINAL FINAL THREAD, with a see you next league post. and many times i did come back.

nowadays whenever i go thru the forum/subreddits all i see are posts for a game genre that i used to enjoy. but no longer. i have no comments to give. no feedback. any comments i have would be akin asking the devs to create an entirely new game, and to cater to a playstyle that a large majority of POE fans might not enjoy. there is no point. i also see no point in ranting anymore either. i dont consider this post a rant. but more of a post mortem. a closing to a document.

i have considered deleting all my characters and gear and i think i would have if i had resentment. but i dont. i simply do not care anymore. i would have to redownload my client. and delete the tons of characters i have and deleting my stashes? how does one do that anyway? its just unnecessary work for something i no longer am passionate about. apathy.

in the seven stages of grief, the last stage is acceptance. i believe apathy is an adjacent branch of that stage. i have already accepted that poe is never going to be the game i want it to be.

similarly even LE. despite this thread starting off as me loving LE, i see LE converging to the same point as POE. just another blaster.

anyway, i have nothing much to add as i've really shat out anything i want to say.

i've been keyboard warrioring in this forum for a god damn long time so i wont lie, i do hold some attachment towards these forums as well as POE. in fact to this day its so ingrained in my head, that when i go home from work i tell myself "cant wait to POE". i still do tell myself that, but the game in mind doesnt match the name. i've been playing other games nowadays and currently am enjoying worldwar z a huge lot. a total change of genre i know.

anyway. good luck and have fun.
