Armour Stacker went horribly wrong.

I watched BigDaddy's 6 part video series on Armour Stacking.
Including this one:

So i copied his build for the most part and ended up with 410k armour. https://pobb.in/SdnRpvrWvETK

Not too far off the 620k of his budget build. https://pobb.in/Uzo-XL-SNNM4

And 2% of his damage.
Two.

934,881 versus 46,992,876

How the hell is that possible??

I pondered for hours what it might be.
Yes, he uses 2 swords, I use one.
He has an overcap helmet, I don't.
If it was half the damage I would have understood.
But 2 percent??
I spent the whole evening watching more videos, surfing PoE Ninja and clicking around in PoB.
Then it struck me.

Spoiler
That MF has 40! tattoos.
Forty!! Thats a 4 with a 0!

Thats alone 250 div in standard.

So before I buy 40 tattoos and a several hundred div expensive armor:
Is it worth it, compared to Double Strike max Block Gladiator?
I got this up and running with about 20 div and it's way tankier with way more damage than my crippled Armor Stacker so far.

Im bad at math.

It sounds like you're missing where the damage is coming from.
The Calcs tab in PoB helps with this.

They have :
200% more damage from Armour (2x Sword, 50% more armour)
100% more damage from enemy resists + inc damage taken
--extra 20% increased damage taken from Scion's Champion taunt + Intimidate
--lightning res lowered by 30% (17% from Conductivity curse on hit ring, 13% from Exposure on gloves)
--more lightning penetration, mostly from a Tincture
80% more damage from attack speed/accuracy vs your attack speed/accuracy/crit
--most of the difference is they have Haste and Vaal Haste both active
30% more damage from Rage
13% more damage from Precise Technique vs your Frenzy Charges + Scion's Trickster

145% more added lightning damage because they have have 27% more aura effect, and also Vaal Smite's aura buff enabled where you Smite's aura buff enabled

100% more damage because they have two Smite skill groups both included in "Full DPS"--probably to account for hitting the enemy with the AoE from your slash and the melee from from "Non-Vaal Strike skills target # nearby additional enemies"

This adds up to more of a difference than you see because there are other things you have that they don't, but that's the general idea.

Also, your Light of Meaning will probably give you more bang for your buck if you swap it with the crimson jewel by the Scion starting position. It should also make the unallocated passives in Unnatural Instinct's range give you its bonus.

A lot of factors combining together multiplicatively by the sounds of it.
Whenver you "copy" someone's posted build, the most important thing (and things a lot of people miss) is taking the time to learn the concepts of what makes it work. The reason that's important is because said builds usually incorporate expensive items and at the very least people like to test a concept before committing, or simply make a more budget friendly version accessible to them.

Its especially the case with scaling up damage, as the gains are often in things like 21/20 gems and other premiums that cost extra.

Honestly for me even in standard I try not to go overboard, too used to things getting nerfed so that spending too much on any given thing feels like its gonna lose value faster than a brand new car leaving a lot.
Yep, totally over league play.

This adds up

Thank you for your service!

I imported my gear into his PoB and the damage wouldve been 7 mio.
60% coming from his helmet.

I was giving up because the cheapest one costed 200 div yesterday.
2 minutes ago i bought this one for 2 div.

So ill give it another try.

Edit:
There is still a lot i dont get.

His Forbidden Flesh Combo gives him 0,8% dps.
Why did he choose that?
Im bad at math.

Might be for the non damage stats which seem pretty good. If he already has 40mil dps, QOL might be better for him. It might be the best way to get ES leech, because it is not that easy to get on attack builds. The other stats are pretty good too, and I think he has 2 masteries, so 4% more damage may not be that far below other options. POB is showing that as only .8% more total damage? Seems less than I think it would be, but haven't really looked at the build.

Run the same map all day.
Multiple maps deathless.
Now 5 deaths in one map.
