PoE2 Needs to Rethink XP Loss – Here’s a Simple Fix

Invest in defensive layers. if you dont want to be tanky then immobilise of some sort. if you only invest in damage then you should die, otherwise why would anyone build defenses. I think the enemies are okay but some other and diverse defenses can be balanced or added. (Armor/hp) I like the fact that i still have to pay attention and not play an afk game even in the endgame.
You know, that there are Omens to help you with XP-loosing-thematic if you get randomly oneshotted? ^^

I disagree.

With trying out new classes and homebrew builds it is not straightforward for most players.

And to be clear, I would be fine with them increasing the required XP to maintain a similar length of journey.

I hate it for 3 main reasons:

1. It heavily discourages and even outright prevents engaging in challenging gameplay where death is a possibility. That makes the only viable gameplay boring repetitive gameplay. Bad design.

2. If you have a bad run, it actually makes you go backwards. Which is simply never fun.

3. It can actually force you to go down in difficulty in order to progress. For example you might be levelling fine on TX with an acceptable death rate but a level or three later if you haven't had any luck with drops that improve your defense the increased XP loss makes TX no longer viable as your death rate hasn't decreased proportionally. So now you are a few levels higher forced to go to TX-1, or TX-2 or whatever. So again progression is going backwards.

Add to this the fact that those who purport to rarely die would not in any way be negatively impacted by its removal, and not removing it seems to me be an untenable position.

I gave up.

Now I am just waiting for GGG to clear its mind.

There is no business rationale for maintaining this game with such think.

It seems madness to me to hold onto it when we discuss business profits from this game!
If they want to keep xp loss on death, imo it should be like the first 2 death are free.

You just revive in place or checkpoint, thats it. Third death -10%.
Btw, where are the omen?
Counter gets reset for each death after one hour.

That way you would get reminded that you are tired, not suited for that content and/or need to learn the mechanic before you get punished, rightfully then.

The other half... probably the lack of any fuckin loot. I love hearing the word 'crafting' used in a game that has absolutely not one ounce of crafting, and only a seriously heavily weighted against you RNG system. Which doesnt even give you enough currency to try and toy with on any level. Seems RMT driven, honestly.

But Yea... it sucked in POE1, and it still sucks in POE2.

Especially when they intentionally stack the odds against you on every possible fucking level already.

You obviously haven't played with an armor or evasion build, or haven't reached late endgame
i spent 3 hours doing a bunch of lvl t15/t16 maps and died two or 3 times and lost all my experience.

nothing like getting almost no currency and poor loot then die and loos everything and experience. progress really sucks.

the amount of experience you get after lvl 90 verses what you loose is very very imbalanced. you cant get loot or anything worth anything without juicing maps and then you die .. i liked the idea of chances being reduced when you juice a map but you get back this 1 attempt thing and you done and that just sucks as well .. you try fix one problem just by keeping the problem in the game..

you had it right in poe 1 .. 5 chances and then you done no matter how juiced the map is.

you say you want to make a game thats not like poe1 but you keep the one shot deaths and loss of experience .. this is true .. i dont care how bad loot drops are .. if the loss of experience and more experience gain after lvl 90 is not addressed i will quit the game.

ive quit plenty of games.

What i also have been considering is Sueing GGG. i know its going to sound lame but since i played poe other games are now boring and not fun .. now im stuck in this no progress loop and im now struggling to play other games because they have no skill challenge. but these are not the only issue i have with the game. I have times where im not stunned but i cant cast or move or anything like lag. i use evade and it doesnt evade.. ill cast and for moments ill cast fine then i cant cast ..

different atatcks covering screen in such a way you cant evade 1 kill death mechanics which are stupid af .. or 2 1 shot death mechanics at a time right next to each other that no matter what you try to do you cant evade ..

lots of stupid things that lead to death causing exp loss .. and its all starting to drive me up the wall
XP loss is the num 1 reason I have a love hate relationship with this game.

Too frequently the loss is multiple days of my gaming time pissed on by GGG.

The fact is that as long as no armor, evasion, ES is gonma save you from them BS ONE SHOTs that exist all over this game.

I quit in T2 maps the one shots/stuns and losing days of progress in 1 second is too much for me to accept. Along with no currency drops. At least the drops existed before to keep me playing. No NO DROPS, no reason to play.

I cant play 10 hours a day on GenZ NRG drinks.

GGG dont even give you any protection from repeat deaths. I chose spawn at checkpoint ....spawn and killed immediately by the same overtuned hammer wielding MFers slammin the ground dead again... entire week of gaming progress wiped in 30 seconds. Never spending another $ on this POS
