as per recent interview the claim is that the European servers are being ddos'd an there is little that can be done about that.
Even if that is the case (which I don't really believe), the game servers are not publicly accessible, there must be firewall, login server etc which all protect the game servers from ddos. If they made all in one server then it's no wonder that they crash all the time.
Okay whatever, but they can make it to not loose everything on a crash, like periodically write server state somewhere to recover it from crash. I understand that it could be not as easy as it sounds but man it's 3rd week of this shit happening. And they should have originally built their architecture in such a way as to prevent such attacks and server crashes.
I've lost many of maps and loot for the last days, enough, the game is not ready at all.
It's very clear from this comment that you don't know what you're talking about.

Both of the things you said here are just plain wrong.
The game servers are definitely publicly accessible, how do you think hundreds of thousands of players are connected to them to play otherwise?
Firewalls also don't protect against DDoS attacks, they protect against malicious requests. Modern DDoS attacks mimic legitimate traffic so that the DDoS requests are indistinguishable from regular requests. They are also already paying for DDoS protection but there's only so much that any provider can do for that.

"It could be not(sic) as easy as it sounds" is a severe understatement. It's impossible to make something DDoS proof, you can only make things withstand DDoS attacks better.
I've also never had a rollback happen to me on PoE 2 (I play on the Amsterdam server) but that's exactly what you are describing here when you say "like periodically write server state somewhere to recover it from crash".
Lmao dude your wall of text really made me laugh, actually you don't know what you are talking about.
I work as a software developer already for 15 years ( including server development ) I think I have some understanding in these things right?
Are you even a ggg's shill? Why are you protecting them so furiously? Just admit that GGG fucked up in their development.
Also following your logic why don't other games suffer from ddos if "it's impossible to make servers ddos proof"?
Also I don't think this ddos is so "massive" so nothing can protect against it.
