Experience loss...

2 bars away from leveling up I go into a map.

I spawn in a narrow channel (Trenches), there is a delirium mirror right in front of me, Rare monster right behind it. Guess how that went...

2 deaths later I cleared the 15 monsters that had me surrounded and I was a quarter level behind where I was.

Please someone ask the devs in the next interview, who does this exp penalty serve?

People who don't die in maps don't feel good about it, because they are not rewarded for not dying in any super obvious way. But when you die! The punishment is insane, especially for new characters in maps it's just soooo bad.

Trying to improve, but being ass kicked around every corner is not fun.

Diablo should have never introduced losing exp to the genre....

With the new changes to end game the experience loss is pretty garbage tbh.
I feel like reaching 100 is now a pipe dream even though I'm level 96. The number of deaths has gone up since the patch and I haven't gotten a level since Dawn of the Hunt dropped.
It was always garbage even in 0.1

Now its even worse.

And there is no point playing past about lv 90 as you will never reach higher levels.

I tried to reach 100 in 0.1 and was pretty close but the amount of time needed is so over the top massive its a total waste of time and nerves.

It feels like it was done for flexing streamers rather than to average gamer.

Its 100x easier to reach 100 in poe 1 than it is in poe 2

The amount of xp needed is astronomical and you dont even naturally get maps to get xp for last few levels....
Every time this has popped up most people that have actually reached 100 say that it's absolutely needless to be like that. And all the streamer bros with uber builds, don't even care. They are fine with whatever points they got to 90.

No good reason for exp to be like that. Especially in a game that will reset every 3 months anyway. WHO is this penalty for?
After 0.2, dying happens more frequently, especially at higher levels, where you need more experience, run more maps, and generally invest more time. That’s definitely where players are going to get frustrated, on top of existing punishments like losing map mods, etc. Losing 10% experience is fine when you're low level, but at higher levels, it's just ridiculous.

Its for someones ego....tell me please does a dc or crash in a map make you lose 10% xp?
Ive given up trying to level past 90 in this patch. 6 hours of gameplay is wiped out in 1 random death. Really there no way to progress.

Thank you for this post, i know many other gamer dads that quit because of this and these are big paying customers. When i die i start playing another game and then eventually return until it happens again.

I dont have 2 days to catch up the exp or 10hrs a day to play.

Also level 96
I also feel that the experience lost at high level is way too high compared to the time needed to get the amount that one death rips away. It would be one thing if there were not random feeling one shot mechanics from bosses and even normal monsters.

If the experience loss stays this way then one shots need to be removed. You need to be able to react. Or if there is a one shot it needs a clearly marked area and sufficient time to react to it. That is what I find the most frustrating is doing well in a fight and then dead from something you did not have a chance to react to.
