Clearly you haven't seen everything the internet has to 'offer' if you think that is excessive. It would be small potatoes compared to the lengths unhinged online mobs are willing to go to in order to shit on something they perceive as bad.

In this case it's most probably a combination of several different factors.

The influx of below average players in general would be the main culprit. They're too used to handouts that other games are more than willing to offer them, so as soon as they encounter any kind of friction they start crying.

Combine that with the fact that people who like the game are busy playing right now, instead of balling their eyes out on online forums or their twitch streams and you have your answer.

In any case I'd hope nobody at GGG takes steam reviews seriously, that whole platform is a cesspool of epic proportions.
