+1 noticed it even fails when you cast directly on yourself or enemies. Seemlingly big enough spaces for it to be cast fail, and with the fact that the mana is still consumed makes it hard to tell sometimes with ground clutter if it actually went off.

Bug Report ID: #748755529 Bug Report ID: #2908895909 Using self-cast Temporal Chains (with 0 delay) but also occurs with self-cast Despair (with some delay). Bug occurs in both spells: consumes mana, executes animation, no curse circle appears (even for Despair; 0 delay curses don't show the circle regardless) and no effect on monsters are applied. Bug is easily replicable 80+% of the time during Rituals, but also in tight spaces. Can also replicate when against a pillar while being swarmed by mobs. Can't seem to replicate without monsters present so they are likely a factor. Terrain might also be a factor? As in something like changes in elevation messing where the circle is placed, missing the monsters (or even the floor) altogether. Hope this gets fixed. Have died multiple times to it. +1 to post, me and my buddy, we are both running ED/C and curses keep consuming mana as if casted, without the curse actually dropping. It does feel like its tied to curse size/small areas in maps.

Noticing this as well, definitely an issue in more confined spaces. Thought it might be related to weapon switching since my curses were on a different weapon set.
Very frustrating, hope it gets fixed soon. Died to this quite a few times. Already had an issue with minions and weapon switching, glad to see most of my difficulty has come from bugs lol. |

I mean, curse builds are already pretty bad without glitches making them even worse. I am consistently dying on ritual for juiced maps for several layouts as i'm running mana before life + impending doom and i have to cast multiple failed times curses that only consume my mana until i die (not to say that i had to completely stop using expanse because it would fail and i would need to wait 6s to try to cast it again, only to fail once more).
Outside ritual it's easy to replicate on maps that contain pillars (casting on some positions near the base of the pillar is a consistent cast fail) and stuff like plants. It would be great if GGG would address shit that's off-meta, so we can actually do different stuff on the game and not feel like crap when trying anything that's not broken. |

If any dev finally decides to test this and verify how to reproduce the issue, I recommend going to Augury and trying to cast the curses randomly. I've just found a room where I cast literally in clearly an open spot and it fails. I casted dark effigy to verify if something was blocking the position and it went fine.
![]() In summary, curses fail to cast similarly to blink on 0.1. Simplest solution I see would be to do the same thing and just force the curse to be casted on the closest allowed position. |
