Arc changes
Arc is one of my favorite skills in both 1 and 2. I've been playing Arc builds in one form or another for years. It's never been a real meta skill as far as I know and most Arc builds couldn't even do the uber content in PoE 1.
Which leads me to my question. What is the vision that lead to you guys removing the single mechanic in PoE2 that made Arc even remotely viable as a skill in maps? Yes you gave it 5 additional chains but at the cost of removing any usability against single targets. Sure going from hitting 6 targets to hitting 11 targets might seem nice, but doing so at the cost of all single target damage means that the skill becomes nearly worthless against a powerful rare, let alone against an actual boss. Arc already had a build in PoE2 that let it work against larger groups of mobs if you really needed that. The Chain Support would give it an extra chain AND double the number of chains after that. Letting it hit 14 targets in total. Yes it did less damage that way but it provided an option for hitting large numbers of targets for those who want to build it like that. Which is of course, my complaint. You could build Arc for mass targets, as a skill just to shock things, or for a single target kaboom that would consume shock for even more burst. But with this latest change, you have taken way our choice on how to use the skill. Personally, I don't like having choices removed, especially when it comes to something I chose to use for years over several leagues and was happy to see brought back to PoE2. If this was a case of something being much more powerful than intended that would be one thing, but as far as I know Arc has never been any kind of super skill. So why remove choices from players when there doesn't seem to have been a problem in the first place? Last bumped on Apr 13, 2025, 8:29:58 AM

arc damage nerfed about 30% :P

" Actually over the 6 targets Arc has lost 300% MORE damage. 100% first target 80% second target 60% third target 40% fourth target 20% fifth target base damage on sixth target. Each of those is a MORE multiplier, rather than a simple increased. Even if you want to argue that it's hitting almost twice as many targets now, 11 instead of 6, that still doesn't make up for the loss. Last edited by ZaneWolfe#5779 on Apr 8, 2025, 4:15:14 AM

" This is POE2, you are supposed to have multi target skills and DIFFERENT single target skills as bare minimum |

" Ok so what is the single target skill we are supposed to use with arc? |

My 500 divine NON META arc archmage has had its mana cost increased from 1.2k to 3.4k lol its genuinely unplayable. They completely gutted casters so people just don't play them that its genuinely the only way i can rationalize the nerfs of this calibur. I can accept the es/damage nerf but the increase to mana cost on end game gear is borderline sadistic.
GGG does not want you playing sorceress even if it was your first character. Even if you didnt go braindead spark they will punish you for staying on a "meta" character. The "nerfs" feel more like SPITE. |

" Of course that is what they did. They meta switched so you would be forced to play test one their new classes for them, specifically huntress. I mean the only builds realistically progressing though the campaign are "their choice" and "their skills" because most of the game doesn't work due to skill unviability. Is it a coincidence everyone being forced play test their vision? Why all the nerfs? Kinda answered my own question. Don't tell me after over a decade of playtesting they don't know how arc works. I love arc, I just saw the nerfs to it and knew for a fact that skill ain't viable. The skill was directly nerfed by a base 30% and had all the "more damage" per chain removed which is an insane nerf. So now you have to kill stuff with 70% base damage, that's it. Plus all the support gems were nerfed, and the stormweaver was nerfed into oblivion. Also mana......LOL My mate always started with arc because it was consistent for his first playthough. Now a 50 mirror arc build would be spanked off unmodded T1 maps. |
