[Wishlist] Hardcore SSF - Character Found Like LE
So we all have something we wish Path of Exile 2 had and the one thing I wish we had was a "SSF - Character Found Mode" like in Last Epoch.
In LE you can play a SSF character that shares loot among all your other SSF characters (Just like in PoE) but they also have a mode called SSF Character Found which means its SSF but the loot, currency, gear, everything is specific to that character and cannot be traded among your other characters. I really like this challenge, especially later in the leauge when things get a little stale, you can play this and its kind of like a SSF leauge reset for yourself, not sure how everyone else feels about a mode such as this but I thought I'd cast my vote for it. Thoughts? Or Do You Hate Me For Even Suggesting It? Please don't just say, go play LE noob, cause I do but I honestly enjoy PoE 2 way more. My overall opinion is I like PoE 2 more overall but LE honestly has way better "systems" baked in (Such as SSF - Character Found, In-Game AH and the Merchants Guild vs Circle of Fortune style features). But maybe it just comes down to player numbers, maybe 99% of players in PoE 2 only ever play trade leauge and its not worth there development time to build out features such as this, I don't know, your thoughts? As long as a lot of the features of the game are balanced around blasters like fubgun there will be no allure for ssf for, like you said, 90%(at least) of people.

Ultimately this is a free to play game whose revenue model is built around purchasing optional MTX cosmetics and stash tabs. A fresh stash for each character in each league means less need for tabs. From a player standpoint this sounds fantastic, but from a financial standpoint for the company it definitely eats into the bottom line.

" I don't think this is true, even if your a SSF player you still need to initially buy all your stash tabs just like anyone else would, additionally after your stash tabs are purchased they make all there money via item cosmetics, which it doesn't matter if your SSF or Trade leauge, everyone still wants there characters to look cool so money wise I don't think SSF or SSF Character Found inhibits there income in any way. " I am the kind of person who would love this idea because I can make 6-8 characters per season. I have several stash tabs and after the 3rd character I usually have to start making hard decisions, especially with the items that I have that are promising with good bases and a couple of nice rolls that are incomplete because I have run low on currency to finish them. I also find myself holding on to multiple bases of items because the crafting we have now is not good. I shouldn't need to hold on to a dozen pair of gloves or boots to get good starting rolls, but here we are. |

The entire loot system in PoE1/2 is designed around trade. Particularly in PoE2, the grind for decent gear (currency) would be insufferable.
The game's difficulty is also designed around the expectation players will have access to good gear all the time (trade/market). Personally, I would like to be able to do SSF character found, but I have no interest in it in PoE2 because it's extremely unrewarding and boring. |

" I have the opposite opinion, I exclusively play HC-SSF and SSF I don't play trade leauge and I have a blast with it, I enjoy SSF more but yes it takes a lot longer to progress, you can't beat trade in terms of speed to max gear. |

I agree. I liked that mode a lot in LE and would love to see it in PoE 2, but there was a way to balance it with the CoF faction that made finding loot easier and also I felt like in LE finding loot was generally easier. IMO, if PoE 2 implemented a SSF character found, they would need to somehow give them some tools to more easily find targeted loot or at least to have a percent increase to rarity and/or quantity in drops or something.
The point that someone mentioned about having separate stashes dropping revenue seems a valid concern too, but one may also argue they may garner more people playing their game if they added this because some people do like the idea, and those additional patrons could add to the revenue. Also, another way around it, to "preserve the revenue," would be to have the total number of tabs and slots available in the stash shared among the characters in solo character found, it's just that the items are bound to the characters that found them and only they can withdraw and use those items from the stash. While it would be nice to have the option, players do this already in POE by playing in SSF and then migrating their SSF league to the Standard/Hardcore (Challenge) league between characters.
This leaves you with a full reset of both stash and progress in the SSF league. Be warned that in POE1, you start to accumulate a delay opening your stash once you have several hundred remove-only stash tabs (as my ssf/hc/std parent league can attest, just from league accumulation). They fixed this at one point and then sadly brought it back again. | |
" Ahh I suppose if you're fast and only play in the seasonal leagues and abandon your character after you're "done with them". But for me, I probably won't be able to max out my character in time before the season resets so I will likely keep playing the character in Standard league after the reset so the method you mentioned wouldn't work for me. |
