I was so excited to tell my friend about new update, but then he answers this...

agree with you, but I was talking about T18 maps, even there you have random (mostly bad loot) and you are FORCED to trade...

SSF needs some love

"

1. the game pushes you towards theorycrafting for stronger builds (or copying a strong build), if you dont have ridiculous amount of excess time to just theorycraft you miss out all the fun and satisfaction of making your own build

i think GGG doesnt intend for it to be this way. i personally managed to make a decent macer using a ranger. no builds, totally blind.

better builds will exist but my belief is ggg simply wants to reduce the gap between a good build and a decent one.

i find your friends comment rather.... self contradictory. making your own build does require some effort. the real issue is that GGG allowed over performing builds to exist for so long. people like your friend now have the wrong perception on what is strong.

you simply was never meant to be that strong to begin with. i may be wrong about this but we'll get confirmation next patch.

"

2. but either way no matter which way you go, the balance is just not there, if you go for a weaker build its more tedious to play and you know you are wasting time doing things slower for no real reason, if you go for a stronger build, most content suddenly becomes trivial and boring.

its all about gaps. good builds and gear should be rewarding and more satisfying. as for stronger build trivializing everything. the belief that many people have is GGG is gonna nerf the fuck out of many over performing skills. as mentioned. we were not meant to be that strong to begin with.

if you do get that strong and you trivialize the content and end up bored. it is both the fault of the game and the player. the game for allowing certain builds to trivialize content, as well as the player for following a build guide or utilizing that specific build. i would remind you almost everything except maces are severely over performing.

"

3. and trading while it can be fun and satisfying sometimes, is mostly just a nuisance, you have to stay ahead majority in wealth or you lock yourself out of profiting from the market and depending on your luck that might be time consuming.

i actually agree with this. hands down. its a huge problem that exists due to how its tied to diablo 2 itemization.

i have no love for this archaic system. but it is what it is and it likely wont change.

drops are bad so people have to trade. if drops are good then trading becomes a hassle. ggg wants to make players trade so the drops are intentionally bad.

My friend is day zero POE1 and day zero POE2 veteran, who left POE2 after +-1-15 months of playing, today I messaged him about new update, but suddenly he gave me the following answer.... and added he wont be playing....

Yep, and you don't have to be day zero veteran to see this, first week spent in either poe1 or poe2 endgame is enough, if you already have general understanding of how arpg work.

500 skills and 500000 combinations, and you cannot possibly play what you like from a fantasy/immersion perspective if you wish to complete pinnacle content. Either you play what you must this patch, or you remain in place eating penalties. While being called "you issue", "skill issue", "gitgud", etc.

D2 had more different builds than poe2 lol, with only a few main skills existing per class.
If PoE had the SSF system Last Epoch has, I'd still be playing it almost every day and I wouldn't get discouraged by a dysfunctional economy every league. Alas, it doesn't, and I find LE too boring long-term. Result: I stopped playing (and paying) altogether. Nowadays I only pop in to try a few builds I theorycrafted and then leave because it feels I can achieve nothing worth my time anymore. I used to make one character after the other, but it has all become such a nuisance, I can no longer find any motivation. Stale meta and everything. This is what happens when you blanket-nerf stuff with no regards to collateral.

Your friend has valid points. POE2 is not even for casual players as you do indeed have to play it for at least maybe 5 hours per day to "enjoy' it and you are likely to follow some meta build that some paid content creator has made. Game is still in EA and very unbalanced however it is too overhyped with the EA excuse in case someone doesn't like it as much as fanboys do.
