I was so excited to tell my friend about new update, but then he answers this...

My friend is day zero POE1 and day zero POE2 veteran, who left POE2 after +-1-15 months of playing, today I messaged him about new update, but suddenly he gave me the following answer.... and added he wont be playing....
1. the game pushes you towards theorycrafting for stronger builds (or copying a strong build), if you dont have ridiculous amount of excess time to just theorycraft you miss out all the fun and satisfaction of making your own build 2. but either way no matter which way you go, the balance is just not there, if you go for a weaker build its more tedious to play and you know you are wasting time doing things slower for no real reason, if you go for a stronger build, most content suddenly becomes trivial and boring. 3. and trading while it can be fun and satisfying sometimes, is mostly just a nuisance, you have to stay ahead majority in wealth or you lock yourself out of profiting from the market and depending on your luck that might be time consuming. I'm not a fan of the 0.2 changes aswell, but everything ur friend said is true for PoE aswell. So did he quit both PoE titles or does he not realize the inconsistency?
Maybe u can argue that PoE doesn't get as boring when u have a very strong character, since the drops are way better. I still think what's holding PoE2 hostage is GGG not realizing that they have no plan of how the endgame is supposed to be played. They introduced 3 out of 4 league mechanics that just contradict everything they wanted PoE2 to stand for. No1 has time to do meaningful combos when u get swarmed by Breach or Ritual monsters. No1 can slowly walk through a map, when the delirium fog randomly clears faster than ur movement speed. It's just stupid to play a slow build that relies on combos as well. U'll miss out on everything that makes endgame "rewarding". PoE2 0.3 Character: https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/abyss/character/Sadaukar-2191/Acidic_Sadaukar

he quit both, and he told me my post will not change anything, because they tried 1000000 times to post something like this in the forum

I cant understand why devs do not let us "finish" the build we want in 3 months?.... to get max lvl to somehow build what we want...
either way they reset all this shit in 3 months.... |

Mhm, I have a hard time understanding the problem here.
I guess it comes down to what u call "finished". In PoE for me the longest time to "finish" a build I think was 1 month into the league. It obviously depends on how much time u can invest each day, but 3 months seem more than enough for 1 character tbh. (I usually get bored after 1-1,5 months anyway) Getting to 100 is really fast now, without any 5way shenanigans ect.. It might be a bit harder in ssf since u can't just buy omens and scarabs, but it's manageable. In PoE2 I think it's even faster to be done with a build. There's way less min/maxing to do and gear is so random that u just buy the stuff anyway. The only thing that takes a very long time is getting to 100, but that's just aspirational, it's not needed for anything. let me tell you this. Im playing 3-4 hours per day and managed to gather 37 divines during 380 hours or so...
Do you see the problem?? If you dont, the problem is I feel like this game is only for 10% of hardcore players with unlimited amount of time. SSF needs some love btw.... EDIT: regarding "finished build" is that for 37 divines im able to buy 1 good item and thats it..... Last edited by Jagdkommando90#7200 on Mar 31, 2025, 12:25:03 PM

1) Games challenge players to play better to reach harder content. If thinking about gear/skills is a barrier of entry I don't know what to suggest really. That's kind of what poe is (+grinding for the gear).
2)Yes, balance isn't great at the moment. That's a valid reason to not want to jump back in. 3)I can see how if trade is an important part of the game for them then the inflation rate can feel bad. But everyone can find those items that are getting ever inflated prices. clearing 1 copper citidal currently grants 3-8 div just from the frags. " If you're going to rely on trade for gear you should know the majority of income wont be from raw divines dropping from enemies. If you see people saying they make 'X' amount of divs per map or something they usually mean the liquidated value of all the collected drops. eg: breach/simulacrum splinters, logbooks, bases like saphire/breach rings and stellar amulets, popular uniques, lesser currencies like chaos, etc. " I agree with this part, but believe more crafting options and different modes of play (maps/trials/bossing) will fix that. eventually. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" What is the end goal? DO YOU want to have fun or you want to speedrun and play the game competitively? yesterday there was a long interview with GGG, DarthMicrotransaction and GhazzyTv. After long circlequestions and answers: The game is absurdly hard to balance. Its impossible to playtest every possible option, especially with design philosophy in mind. Yeah, they try to balance the game, but there WILL be someone out of the hundreds of thousands of players who will find some extremely broken build eventually. Like they weren't even thinking about why people want "low level gem cutting" as QoL option, because their thinking is everyone should aim to get max level gem as soon as possible, yet here we are... Or its well known that endgame bossfights should be minute longs and at least to see mechanics, not oneshotting uberbosses and maps. I don't want to oneshot maps, but I would like to see that even my noob build can eventually overcome maps. Yeah... let the speedrunners have their own fun. But I don't want to see a brick wall in progress. I stopped playing because t14 and 15 maps just oneshotted my "tank" character. Well... not even sure if there's even a defensive build in this game. Seems you're either a glass cannon or a rupert-tierdrop-build. Currently not playing, but will come back in 0.2. Those 100 new support gems might push me over the hurdles. GGG nerfed onelick builds, but they are fully aware players WILL find new broken builds. But they want to see casuals reaching endgame too. They don't want to see the "you must do meta otherwise you never go beyond t10" |
|
" if they really want casuals achieve endgame they need to implement some kind of SSF system like in Last Epoch, otherwise casuals will end up with 12 divine orb at the end of the season... meaning that your noobish character will NEVER overcome some contents of the game, especially the endgame |

" I think end game needs some tweaking. Up until maps unlocked your path is sort of clear: each act you get new gems, unlock spirit gems get your first 4 ascendancy points hit cap? Second playthrough you aim to hit res cap when you reach maps you should have 3 out of 4 resistance capped with your main def mechanic at limit... But the new mechanics you get in the maps are odd. Because we get delirium introduced, but as if that neck enchant would be such a gamechanger that you need it for ubermaps? 3rd and 4th ascendancy drops are rare even with the related atlas points. Breach rings? Expedition loots seems pretty weak. At least I never seen anything that would be stronger compared to what I already got from t1-4 maps... So as if in power escalation the mechanics we get don't really help you. The time you farm those out its not really needed. Yes, you want them, but I would be happy if I would get at least neck enchant around mid map tier range (lets say I do the map quests in order as a good casual player) 3rd and 4th ascendancy should be done at their respective levels. Like I still don't have 3rd ascendancy because you need decent relics to have a chance to see the boss first. General power escalation just punish the player for being defensive too. Some people argue that there's no such thing as tank build in the game. There are glass cannons and RupertTeardrop builds. You cant even have an "I will outlive my enemies" because the endgame mechanics actually punishes you for that: breach and delirium are on timers. Rituals are on soft timers (you will be overwhelmed) And... expeditions are well known to be not rewarding at all, that's why it will get some love this week. And when I look at "uberbuilds" seems stat stacking and +x skill levels are a must have too. You often see players with 500 main stat, and I barely seen any stat extras. I cant even upgrade gems because I don't have enough str as a pure str class? :D Last edited by Kraivan#1745 on Apr 1, 2025, 2:38:48 PM
