When will you fix the cheating?

In the context of gaming, if a reset make zero sense... thats what a league is.

"Server wipe" effectively bringing all players and their progress back to a starting point, as if the server is starting fresh.

Then it make perfect sense.

To be fair here... On some level, i agree with you; the ONLY way to even attempt to balance Standard, a wipe would probably be necessary.

With a mirror market running for 10+ years, with so many "borrowed power" mechanics on top of each other, balancing is... Impossible, if the goal is a game to play, and not just a crafting game.

What sort of challenges could they introduce? What sort of "rewarding mechanics" could they introduce, when new stuff will never be able to compete?

But a wipe is of course not the right move here, as they would lose 99% of standard players, playing standard BECAUSE of the "no wipe" promise. What are we left with? Leagues, and that's where their focus should be.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Leagues are NOT wiped out.
Standard is the home you never lose. Every player has a home there.
League is moving abroad for a new job. New workplace, new tools, new opportunities.
At the end of the league, you bring back all your earnings home, Standard.
Next league, you can start a new job (if you want), or you can stay home and play around with your earnings, turning your tent into a castle.
You can even work from home.

Then there is that guy that left school and did a job or two.
One morning this guy leaves his hut, look at the castle next door that has been built over a decade by some hard working and dedicated guy and says : it's not fucking fair.
So the guy goes to the mayor and declare this town is complete bs, and we need to destroy everything, because only then will there be balance.

Suppose GGG nukes Standard. Complete reset, whatever.
Suppose GGG releases at least a league every year.
In a year a new guy discovers PoE1, plays the league, then goes Standard.
He looks at his sleeping bag, looks at your one year old hut and says : it's not fucking fair.
So the guy goes to the mayor and declare this town is complete bs, and we need to destroy everything, because only then will there be balance.

What will you do then ?

Our civilization rose so much through the mind that it sometimes becomes difficult to reincarnate our own bodies.
And yet, when we surrender ourselves to one another, I see the wild beasts come back out.
When so rarely we embrace, I can hear the breath of dawn.

"You haven't heard what I am going to do with temporary leagues yet."

Then laugh maniacally and walk away.

The reason why I've never been remotely interested in playing my characters in PoE's standard league is the same reason I never wanted to play on Open Bnet in d2; why even bother when everyone is running around in broken / hacked / duped gear. You end up feeling like an idiot trying to run some maps to 'farm' when nearly everyone else who actually plays standard is beyond peak 100% power in every slot.

I've always wondered, specifically on items like this thread is talking about, why not let the players keep it, but it's unusable. It's a trophy, you can show it off, but can't equip it. Hell, copy D2 and literally break standard into two standard realms, one of them being the 'open bnet' style bugged / broken item version and the other one a balanced version.

I just really don't buy the argument that if the *super* bugged and broken items become unusable, GGG would lose a considerable amount of player. Like, maybe a few, but unless there's some data we'll never see showing a huge amount of mtx whales only ever play in standard, I think it would be worth it to try and balance the mode.
Play SSF and stop whining.
If I remember correctly there is a lot of overpowered stuff in standard. For example with new items Vaal Immortal Call can literally create a fully immortal character. Should all extremely unbalanced items be removed or just the one that gives you infinite armor and dps?

Yeah the chest is insane that's true. Still there are A LOT of ways to get that overpowered in standard, and I personally don't think it matters too much when your usual Standard enjoyer has dps that measures in Ubers/second. If you kill everything in one hit does it really matter if you just have Culling Strike at 100% hp or several billion damage overkill? Game will feel the same regardless

SSF doesn't prevent you from bringing OP items from Leagues to Standard. The only limitation is that you can't obtain them through Trade, you still would have to craft or find them.
relax - it's just ones and zeros!
they werent cheating they got these bugged items by accident becuz of GGG servers
As someone who plays Standard exclusively, and is neither rich in mirrors or in bugged/mirror items, the day Standard gets "nuked" or "wiped" is the day I uninstall PoE for good. I'm certain that there are other STD-exclusive players who would do the same... but hey GGG caters only to league sheep so it wouldn't surprise me down the line.
So now that we have PoE2, GGG needs to revert the nerfs to 'slow down' PoE1.

Never forget the great Alt Qual Gem deletion, the Ex > Div swap and loss of various crafting methods. Bring back Fire Nova Mine!

Enjoy Path of Nerfs Dos!!
How are you "punished" exactly?
