Latency Spikes on Australian Realm Phrecia League
Hi,
I've been experiencing insane lag all day today playing on the Australian realm. It occasionally returned to 3-6ms briefly but most of the time its been sitting at 40ms on Lockstep which is considerably slower than normal but playable. For the last hour, its been spiking between 50-1000ms and maps/blight are unplayable without dying. Here is my MTR dump: https://pastebin.com/D3Hj7ynT For some reason, the Australian realm is routing via NZ for me? Beyond strange, the login screen lists the Aussie server at 3-6ms and is definitely selected. I'd appreciate if someone could take a look or has any advice, thank you. Your WinMTR is showing packet loss right from after the hop to your ISP. Try rebooting your router (complete power cycle) and see if that gets you a better connection.
I'm Australia too and not having any issues at the moment. 😹😹😹😹😹
I do not and will not use TFT. Gaming Granny :D 🐢🐢🐢🪲🪲🪲 |

I restarted the router just now, and the latency is about the same.
I'm going to try reinstalling the game quickly and see what else I can do. Out of interest, I'd be curious to know if anyone else with Superloop having issues today? |

I haven't reinstalled my client, but I did load into Kingsmarch and notice it'd gone down to the normal latency of 3-6ms but.....
It immediately changed instance again when I loaded into the Admiral shipping fight and went to crap again. Here's the paste of when it connected to the good Kingsmarch instance server: https://pastebin.com/XsbAcgzX I swear it looks like its routing to NZ based on the hostnames of the hops, super weird! The latency of 41ms I'm getting when it isn't spiking is the same value that's showing on the server selection screen for Auckland (NZ) on POE startup. |

I'm still having the same issue today, it's intermittent and I can usually immediately tell if a map or instance is going to be fine when the latency starts in the 10-20~ms range or if it starts in the 40ms's.
The 40ms maps can be fairly stable too, its just way less smooth then the lower latency maps. I'm using Auto for the networking mode, but changing it doesn't magically change the routing. |

I might have figured out a fix, I followed these steps and haven't encountered the slow 40ms instances for about two hours at this point:
1. Uninstall POE. 2. Delete 'C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile'. 3. Delete 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\pathofexile' (if using steam and if folder still exists). 4. Delete 'C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile'. 5. Run 'ipconfig /flushdns' in a command prompt (cmd). 6. Set DNS on network adapter to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google Public DNS). 7. Reinstall game and test. I'll come back later to confirm if this has resolved the issue - I suspect there's some not ideal name resolution/routing going on at Superloop right now; I'll consider contacting them later. |

Might try that thank you, but also talking to my ISP -

I'm still intermittently getting the issue (reinstalling has helped performance in general but I'm still iffy on why some instances are 4-12ms and others are 40ms+); I'm going to keep a record of 'good' instances versus bad ones and contact my ISP.

I have the same issue, i am using 1000mbps from superloop, POE2 is normal with 12 ms.
POE 1: normally 13ms but jump up to 10,000 (YES TEN THOUSANDS) every 5 to 10 seconds. |
