Chris - over 10 years ago.

To be that young again :)

GGG definitely built something truly remarkable. Definitely scratched that itch for old school D2 players.

We should remember the 21st of January as Chris' memorial day. The day he officially left GGG. A day to mourn, but also to celebrate the joy he and his team brought to us.

May he live long and prosper!

i owe him so much, not just 12 years of joyful gaming.

the way he ran the company was exemplary, he cared for his employees and ever tried to protect them from vicious folks and defended their decisions by taking the shit for them on shitty reddit and elsewhere.

he cared for all fans of his game, dedicated alot of time for them to answer their questions even in private, he is a oldschool gamer who made a amazing game for oldschool gamers who like challenging games.

had the pleasure to meet him twice being in nz (titirangi road office and henderson office) and i learned alot about what`s behind making good games and the difficulties running them.

i really hope he can enjoy all the fruits he earned for his dedication and investment into poe.

thanks chris, hope you stick around.

i will celebrate as long the og poe doesn't get fucked over as for all the support it gotten tbh. let's be fair chris wolcen was amazing and made the perfect game. but as things go atm... yes we got a fun event that doesn't mean poe is for the best. yes we got a lot of good years because of the bald guy :P we all love him for that. but a lot of us(i think) are still scared for the future. and it scares me. i still wanna play the og poe in 12 years from now. hell maybe even double that!

looking how the last 12 years changed poe, i'm not sure.
and even if that's not the real reason chris left, they had their chance to make a more challenging game mode but didn't put much work into ruthless mode.

Now that's a Kodak moment.

Totally agree with u. When I wrote that I meant we should remember the great memories when Chris was around. Not whatever will come in the future. Maybe it wasn't perfectly worded :D

I have the same concerns and honestly whatever is going on with GGG right now doesn't give me much confidence that things will get better soon. The recent news with the racing event is just another strike, where PoE2 is competing with PoE in terms of attention and players that just doesn't sit right with me.
I'm not a doomer, but I can't help but being worried :/
i do think poe1 and 2 will be one game eventually (one way or another) if they can't find another capable game director for poe1.

to me it's obvious that ggg hasn't got the manpower to do 2 games in parallel, having devs switch between 2 now different games isn't helping the cause and it's a fact that if you double the employees of a company, productivity goes up one third (in the best case).

Btw. to return to something more positive.

If we look at Ruthless being Chris' baby and ultimate vision for the game.
PlayLife uploaded a Video today as the first player to ever kill all Uber Bosses in HCSSF Ruthless. At the same day when the news broke that Chris is officially gone.

What a homage to "the vision" :D
pretty epic for sure to put that build together in ruthless is an amount of durability to tedium and appetite for repetition that I can't fathom.

Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
