This isn’t an invite-only tournament where you have to qualify first, so the World Cup comparison doesn’t really hold up. It’s more like a marathon where anyone can participate. And from GGG’s perspective, it’s obviously in their best interest to have as many people join as possible.

Also, what exactly is "cringe" about getting something at the end of the race—something to work towards? That’s a core part of engagement in so many games.

Are you really comparing this to a world cup match... It's a video game...while am not saying there's some skill involved.. most regular people will be at work or getting ready to go to work. Or can't sit at a screen for 4-6hrs..

No one is whining about the race, but there so many ways to make it inclusive or a challenge that everyone could take part in. It's the lack of thought process that went through this thinking...

An achievement tied to the account for anyone beating Doryani would be cool, and with top 25 winning the unique prized item, and the 1st to beat getting a 3D art of the item?
