Announcing the First Path of Exile 2 Race Event

Agreed with the other sentiments. I thought this was going to be something that brings the community together but it's like a lukewarm spectator sport. With how incredible some of the top players' knowledge is of the game, I can't imagine anyone who hasn't dedicated excessive amounts of time will get anything out of this event.

I'll sit this one out, but the prize looks great and it's cool that it's a rotating event that will piece together a DEMIGOD armor set. The prize truly fits the challenge. Good luck to anyone who participates.


Edit: one thing I'm thinking about is if this is going to be largely a spectator sport, there could be a system in place where people can tie themselves to a racer and if the racer wins, everyone on the team gets a "winners circle" prize.

Feedback as a poe1 alpha/beta tester is similar to poe2:

a. i love the pace, i love the action, variety

b. i like gold now instead of orbs to reset my skill tree (awesome)
-needs 25% reduction in cost though

c. we need something to do with 500 skill gems

d. we need more "rune" gear or "socket orbs" to drop .. instead of 50+ of each rune but only finding a handful of gear

e. your builds are often exponentially boosted by +skill drop gear. i have only found 2 bows with that in game, but can easily buy it on trade site. i want to find this in game too. if something is essential for fun (sockets, +x to skills) then maybe make those more approachable in new ways yet still a fun item to chase (better rune combos, a new orb that intensifies a socket to boost it etc)

f. give armor a flat reduction bonus to all damage sources on top of existing mechanics
-- something like if "armor is highest defensive stat" and "is 75 %+ more effective than energy shield or what not" then 10% flat damage reduction
-- armor / x % boost that scales on levels

g. remove xp penalties from maps, maybe "lose all gold gained" since returning to map (portal) and death (reset each time you leave/hop back)

h. uniques are cool, the pacing is better at higher levels but it would be nice to find it slightly better at low levels before maps. maybe some hidden modifier that sometimes lets you get more uniques. most of them seem useless at higher levels due to base stats.

i'm not sure how it all works yet , can you maybe get better uniques off higher end gear (modifiers).

or let us "steal" a unique bonus and apply it to a rare and make our own weapon

i. please fix skills that do not work with xyz
- skill tree, orbs etc... let the text turn red if not compatible with that skill
- resonating shield works with aoe effect but not damage
- shockwave totem doesn't work on "your hits" , what is "your hit" vs "the totems" , its not clear and a waste of time / gold. help make it obvious.

j. maybe 5-10 more skill tree bonuses throughout the game (Free points)

k. better ways to increase jewel quality in game instead of dependency on trading

Cool. A unique I'll never get, which means my OCD will forever torment me with a POE 2 collection I can never complete. -_-

If you're giving away demigods during EA, so there will be no wipe before game release?

race for this is act 3 doryani or cruel doryani?

Does this mean the economy will reset and we will be in a new league?

Still no new content/balances ?
Who cares about the race, especially with those rewards. As many said, 99.99% of player base is gonna be excluded from the reward. Anyone with a job that isn't being a professional gamer is already out, so why even bother ?
This simply feels like stalling.

I feel like this is a great game, but i've been playing less and less while hoping for new content. And then there are announcements that spikes my hope only for it to announce map stash tabs (which was sorely needed and should have been there from the start), and now this... I'll probably barely play an hour per week until the new content.

I'll be joining for sure. :D
Getting more experience in doing Campaign faster is always a good thing. :)

Congratz ben on the 18 demigods. I rather farm some stacked decks.

Assuming their plan is still to do a wipe, I guess you will get the race rewards as well in full release. Kind of weird that you can make progress in full release before it's even out though.
