Getting One Shot With Max Resistances is not an ARPG Game

Im lvl 96 str/int titan, max res, enough to take on ele pen, max block, 2.5k HP, 8.7 ES, good damage and sometimes I'm still getting deleted from 100 to 0 in 0.2 seconds or get perma stun locked and slowly killed.
I had to add a megalo jewel and invest about 8 skill points + gear for stun threshold in order to have a decent chance on +200% stun threshold maps.
I can delete juiced maps for hours and then just explode for what seems like no reason at all.
Maybe if I used grim feast it would no longer happen, but for real, some times it seems like the game says "ok, you have been alive for too long now, time to die" and it just deletes me.
And the loot my god. No mf, 200 mf, full mf on tower/keys or none at all. Barely matters except for the same useless uniques and a couple of ex/chaos.
I play a LOT. Many hours, every day and I havent seen a single divine drop in about 100 hours of grinding. I was able to "finish" my build only due to trading and selling citadel fragments instead of fighting the arbiter.
And lets not even talk about the audience with the king.
The game is so frustrating. I invest a lot of time because it got me addicted, but in a sort of toxic way and to be honest, Im starting to hate it.
The worst part is that GGG decided to do league releases, like this is a complete game instead of EA, because people with OP builds would get mad if things change.
I will never be able to see all the mace and warrior skills on this character, including several passives that just dont work, and I absolutly hate it, because there is no way I will make another warrior after reset, that is, if I even decide to keep playing at all.
PD: setting up maps in the atlas with towers before doing them absolutly sucks and gets boring fast.

Getting one-shotted is *so much fun*, right?

I’m honestly done with this game until 1.0, which at this pace will probably release sometime around 2050. I’m tired of investing time into a character, pushing my gear as far as I can, learning the systems, and then getting deleted instantly by a boss because the developers decided that “challenge” means giving the player zero room for error.

A difficult fight is fine. Punishing mistakes is fine. But being fully geared and still dying in one hit because you moved one pixel wrong is not good design, it’s just frustrating. There’s a difference between difficulty and cheap, exhausting nonsense.

People are paid serious money to design these systems. Maybe they should seriously think about whether this kind of gameplay is actually healthy for the future of the game, because right now it feels like the game is testing my patience more than my skill.

Uninstalled until this gets fixed.
Its funny to see people who still think that having 75% all res means anything when its the baseline and essentially means 0 resistance.

Also no mention of maps mods etc....
The main issue here is not Resistances that are a joke. The main issue is that Resistances getting cap but Offensive power is unlimited. It isn't fair becouse some players rely their builds on defensive mode.

I make shit damage but i want to get unlimited freedom to reach 100% defence. Clearly it is a game for OP builds. Kill fast because defences sucks.
The problem is that they want both a souls game and an arpg which is overall just a bad decision. Either you make it so that the one shot mechanics are slwoer and better choreographed, so you can beat the bosses almost naked via skill or you design an arpg which makes it so that you have to gear your character to a point where you can take a hit or two and press your life flask or heal via your recovery.

You can't have both and a lot(likely most) arpg players are at war with soulslike design anyway. It's not what they want, otherwise they would not play an arpg, they would play a different genre.

That is why poe 1 is the far superior game. You beat the game in PoB which is what arpg players want. Otherwise log in to elden ring or dark souls and hf there.

You have some wiggle room in the campaign obv where the player has limited acces to items and is bottlenecked, so act 1 boss soulslike experience there you go...but that's about it. If you do that in endgame arpg enthusiast will go mad.

This thread is over one year old. One shots were a huge issue in February 2025. But nowadays? If you are getting one shot by a white mob you really need to do something about your defenses.
In my opinion, reaching 75% resistances is not really the hard part. With gear and sockets, that baseline is fairly easy to hit.

What should be easier is raising the maximum resistance cap above 75%. That part feels much more restrictive than it needs to be, especially when endgame damage can spike so hard.

I think increasing max res should be tied more clearly to progression. Something like a campaign quest reward would make sense, similar to how we get spirit or resistance rewards. It would make defensive investment feel less like hunting for a unicorn affix and more like actually developing your character.
OP:
- Has 75% resi capped character.
- Get's hit by a Physical hit and dies because below 3k EHP
- Blames the game

xd
Ignoring proper defense layer is a skill issue.
Hardcore players die sure, I've died 3 times this League, in 500~hours on hcssf. Two times on arbiter and one time on Abyss rares. I will die 4 times soon probably, on arbiter again. All level 90+, farming yellow t15's.

I have never gotten one-shotted, except for on arbiter. Not joking. Atm I have 11k es + eternal life with atziri's disdain. What mob is doing all these one-shots?

Doing Tier 15, all resistances max out and shield at 100%, this lone normal mob just one shot me
with a bow.

This is not an RPG game, but a one-shot mechanic arcade game.

This game made me sick, mad, and angry. It's not enjoyable anymore, game mechanics is so bad.

Looks like I made my Reddit threads for people exactly like you—to show that there's still so much for you to learn in this game.
