Auction House when?

I too would like to see both of the POE's get an AH.

I like how 'City of Heroes' does it with the bid system. WOW or other styles would work too.

I know some like to mention the D3 dumpster fire of an AH, really though that crashed and burned due to RMT being included at the official level. IMhO never a good idea.

I still have an obscene (well for me anyways) amount of gold in D3 I bought, legally and official for like $20.00 US.

D3's AH problem wasn't really with its RMT element. That did cause a public outcry, but it wasn't the real issue.

The real issue is what we're experiencing right now in PoE2 and many players have put up with in PoE1 - The player often feels as if they are playing in order to get items or currency that they can use in order to purchase the items that they want from other players. They are NOT being rewarded with progression-worthy "loot" from gameplay, but must rely on another anonymous player to provide that reward.

In D3, we played in order to be able to buy the thing we wanted that was being sold by another player. We played for gold drops/whatever and the items we could get access to were worthless to others.

That is a SEVERE problem right now when one considers the game's design and its "health" as far as being marketable to new players in a year+ to come.

As it stands, what a new player gets access to in order to gain the purchasing power necessary to purchase highly desirable items quickly fades in quality as time passes. Why? Zoomers and end-gamers rush to the "rich stuff" in end game and any early/mid game items loose nearly all their value by Week Two.

It happens in PoE1 and happens in PoE2 and GGG scratches their head and wonders why their player-count drops. Their player-count drops because top-end players exhaust the market and items are easily devalued as time passes, providing slower players with little purchasing power at all unless they RNG some desirable currency for the few players holding desirable items that are still online.

If players are constantly pushed into this sort of gameplay design where players depend on their purchasing power in an AH in order to progress, they will never escape the rapid decline in player-count after the first few weeks of a League. Never. Why play when others are getting the currency rewards you are spending hours chasing after?

Contrast that with this - In a decent Season with stuffs to do and cool builds to try, I can create and end-game 6 characters in Diablo 4, no sweat, and enjoy my flashy low-stress gaming hours spent. That will NEVER happen for me in PoE2 and I don't think I've created and played more than three builds/characters in any one PoE1 League over years of playing it.

That means that even though I'm not going to pay those outrageous RMT prices for D4 skins and love PoE's RMT market that allows me to get a reward for a tiny sum... I will, typically, spend more time in front of D4's RMT marketplace front-end. Does GGG like that or do they want to do something about it? Some kind of in-game AH is needed, along with serious changes to "loot" and even maybe some gear mechanics, in order to start affecting positive change. Otherwise - They will never get over the few weeks of a populous online playerbase in any one League.

Solving for the economy and AH issues is one step towards making League longevity a fact. It has to be done gently, but it can be done. (IMO)
We also need to have some cool down on some gear, to avoid ppl manipulation on prices....

Like wait "48h to sell this item again"

It's horrible when someone buy for 5 div just to resell it for 140div and not using the gear...
Auction houses are obviously terrible for ARPGs unless there are major restrictions, but I've become an accelerationist. I hope GGG gives the people exactly what they want.

Worst case scenario: the case for SSF-oriented systems becomes too strong to ignore.
Best case scenario: the community learns an important lesson and becomes amenable to the idea of an alternative trading system that preserves what makes ARPGs fun. GGG for its part grows out of its weird stubborn refusal to actually design such a system. The "friction" is game-ified into something thematic and tolerable, maybe even fun.

If you mean making trading items instant like how it is with currency instead of the whole whisper, go to hideout and trade thing, then yes.

I've just encountered my first lamer who was selling an item for 2 exalts, and after a sent trade request he changed it to 2 chaos, I sent an updated trade again with no response. I started spamming out of spite and blocked his ass lol. Mind you all of this with long intervals of several minutes while monitoring him staying at his ho, giving him all the opportunity he needed in good faith.

I'm surprised I never encountered this in poe1 or at least it seemed so, maybe because the poe.trade website was refreshing much slower so I thought they were just ignoring the request.

This whole single experience left me with a nasty taste in my mouth. I feel discouraged to even play the game just from trading.

After GGG fixes loot drops and tones down their skill combo vision to where all skills become more viable on their own, I think they should finally address and implement instant trading.

The current trade system could be fine but there are too many lamers like this that ruin it for normal players based on how much I heard streamers complain about it, so unless GGG plans to prosecute and ban very obvious perpetrators, we need instant buy/sell. You put your item out there, it's gone instantly for the price. You see an item you want - one click if you have space in your inventory and the currency in your inventory+stash = boom the item is in your inventory and your currency is gone. Easy shmeazy

It can't get much worse. Take the currency exchange (which was a God-tier addiction btw) and mash it with the trade site except in-game.

Also, Jonathan, please log in on your xbox x (on stream) and perform 3 trades for anything w/o a PC or phone. That would eb fun to watch. After two hours of no trade Jonathan would till say he "doesn't see the issue."?
