tencent bought the vast majority of shares in ggg, i wanna say it was about 85% of the company 7 years ago.

They bought the remaining shares ( 13% ? ) March of last year , making GGG 100% owned by Tencent ... literally & metaphorically speaking .

sure, that changes nothing tho right? they had all the control they needed to do anything they wanted 7 years ago. the moment they had 51% the other 49% couldnt out vote anything they wanted to do.

i dont think any of these companies are bad companies, they are collections of great people who have made great things. i dont rly have a toxic view of the world where im looking for reasons to be offended and outraged at everything around me.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

% of shares and % of voting rights are not a correlated thing , and Tencent is known for acquiring loads of shares while (initially) relinquishing voting rights : "hey that shady chinese conglomerate wants to own my company but when it comes to daily & long term operations i'll still be the one in charge , so why not" . Classic .

So yeah i don't think this deal of ~March 2024 was of minor importance , Tencent is fully in charge now , and it's not a coincidence that Chris has been reported at "no longer coming at the GGG office since ~October 2023" which was 6 months before this deal . These big deals takes months of negotiation between the time they are introduced & the time when they are finalized , and i would not be surprised it generated some unfortunate backstabbing amongst the former GGG "owners" . Anyway they are (still) all millionaires so who cares .

Meh, give it a couple years, Netflix will have a Documentary about "Whatever happened to Chris Wilson...". Hmm, maybe he's writing a book?
GGG - Why you no?
you just found out why things aren't working with new content for either poe1 or poe2. because it doesn't matter anymore.
oh ggg worked just fine under new management, quit being hypocritical. that being said, the reason I won't pay another cent to them is the bait and switch of poe1's resources without telling us.

"As of March 25, the game and company GGG is 100% owned by SIXJOY HONG KONG LIMITED, a subsidiary of Tencent.

Former owners Christopher W., Jonathan R., and Erik O. have sold all their shares to SIXJOY. They no longer hold any ownership stakes but remain listed as directors—positions that SIXJOY can revoke at any time.

You can verify this information through the official New Zealand Companies Office:
[Official Company Records](https://app.companiesoffice.govt.nz/companies/app/ui/pages/companies/1887410/documents)

Additionally, there are unconfirmed rumors suggesting that Christopher W. hasn’t been present in the office for an extended period.

Make of this what you will."

They took the lambos and ran good for them, bad for us. Stop giving your money to tencent, original GGG has nothing to do with this game anymore. Poe2 will go the same way as last epoch and diablo 4 (100k players left if they made a new poe 1 league poe2 would literally die) meanwhile they have killed poe 1. Good job, time to find a new indy company with dreams working from their garage.

Sliced bread exists now.
Yea, I bought early access to POE2 and that alone I regret. I didn't realize they had sold 100% of the company + personal shares to tencent.

If I'd known that, I would have quit POE for good and not bought POE2 EA. Disappointing. Oh well, time to move on to other games.

you are really clueless on what ownership of a company actually means. this (old) bit of news changes nothing. Also nobody forced you to spend thousands of dollars on a F2P game that has given us an insane amount of content over the last 13 years. Stop crying.
