Reinstalled the game, lost my current character

yeah, in the process of doing this now, i unsynced it from my current email i used to install windows with (lets just say it's a different one) and am syncing it with my outlook mail i assume onedrive was hooked into during my win11 days. it accepted the address and password and i'm staring at it's "loading" swirly thing for some 10 mins now.

I have all folders/files visible in Windows, can't find anything relating to PoE characters in any folder that would be synced. This is really strange.

only thing i have for you is that in the process of initial digging around regarding this, before i made this post, i read from multiple people that GGG transferred some char-related info from 100% serverside to offline on users' PCs. now, yeah, that was "some guys on reddit", but what i'm experiencing tracks really well with that idea.

a game and a backend server and hosting system that permanently has all of my various character's info and progress constantly saved and updated and available shouldn't make me have this problem, at all.

i even got a warning mail from GGG on my default outlook mail when i first logged from my new windows 10, it sent me a security code, i entered it, it got accepted.

then i went to the character screen and felt like someone hit me in the head with a quality karui maul.

hoping for anyone still alive in the poe1 badlands from GGG to notice this and give any sort of answer. i'm not a lucrative whale player but i love this game and this mean witch was my first 92 char ever, my first 2 voidstone char ever, and was comfortably farming the first 10 invites for maven.

now i'm staring at a bunch of lowbie chars and 3 mid level ones, all in standard league, mostly non-geared, with one 78 necro running the doedre skin for extra curses (no comment).

Oh, I just checked. The game client doesn't even recognize the stash tabs I purchased. This is a bit more concerning now and far less funny to me. It never was.

I resent a complaint to GGG support, this time from the same mail i use to log on to the game. I was half-ready to just play for a bit, but now that my paid stash disappeared from the game, while my game profile on this site still has the leftover coins from the purchase I made along with the stats of my character i played YESTERDAY, I'm getting actually pissed off.

Have you always used the standalone client, or have you ever used Steam/Epic? It really does sound like a completely different account from this one on the website.

BTW, did some checking and the game definitely keeps characters etc on the server, not offline. Imagine the hacked and tweaked characters if they were stored locally....

I never used anything other than PoE client to log in, certainly not since purchasing stash tabs and playing my last run some 2 years ago, before coming back recently with this character. I avoid Steam for various reasons.

If you go to https://www.pathofexile.com/my-account/connections, does your Primary Login have your Outlook email address listed? Just checking to make sure, as that is the one that you said that you use to login to PoE.

crap, it doesn't, it has the gmail one. i log in with outlook (the address is so old it's actually @hotmail, but nvm :)) into the game, but the one listed where you asked is the gmail one. Like I said I mailed support from both mails, not exactly copypasted text but saying basically the same thing.

How does that impact the situation, if in any way?

You need to login with the gmail!! The gmail one is linked to this account with your Necromancer and your points.

So you do actually have 2 PoE accounts after all ;)

i logged in with my gmail instead of outlook. the blessed lady is there. the stash tabs are there. i have zero idea why did i login with outlook.

as far as i'm concerned, THREAD CLOSED PROBLEM SOLVED
