A Message to Path of Exile 1 Players

Incredibly disappointed. I don't like poe2's core mechanics, all I ever wanted was WASD on poe1 and new leagues. Sucks

2019: Chris Wilson speaks at Exilecon stating "for years we wanted to make a sequel to Path of Exile, the problem with that is sequels split a community between 2 products. It's also hard for a sequel to compete with the amount of content and features that the original game has. We've just spent 6 years making expansions to Path of Exile, so imagine if we released a Path of Exile 2 and it was just a bare campaign with none of that extra content. This would be a sad shell of an action RPG".
2019: The final year POE1 was on a normal release schedule of 3 month Leagues, 4 times annually.

Jonathan learned nothing of Chris. This was exactly what happened until a few months before the release of poe2.

The fact that you haven't even started working one poe1 again, when we were all expecting an announcement of the livestream reveal for the next league by now, and all you have to say now is a promise that you will someday start working on poe1 again, I just lost the empathy I had for GGG.

Please just reset settlers again at this point the game is so dead.

I appreciate him doing this video. The guy was honest and upfront (albiet a bit late with this) about the plans, what went wrong, and is being transparent.

Yeah, it sucks POE 1 is going to remain stale even longer when they've told us the plan was Feb. It sucks that we didnt learn about the delay until today.

I totally understand what they did, and why though. I can't really blame them, it just sucks.

Unlike so many of these "supporters" I really do appreciate the effort and owning up to mistakes. I dont expect you guys to be perfect, and I do sense the genuine intent behind your choices that I do NOT get from most other large teams.

I feel like the community response to you guys trying your best has been extremely immature and entitled, and they have only learned how to respond to major companies who could not care less about them. And dont know when to turn that off.

I do urge you guys to do all you can to stay to your claims, and I trust you will do all you can to make that true. But you are also allowed to have mistakes or even full blunders, im not going to suddenly and immediately throw a fit and drop you guys and all the great joy you have provided for such a low ask in return.

PoE 2 is an "early access" or .. another BETA test on a massive scale for you.

The timing of the release of PoE 2 "early access" imo was a very poor choice for the players.

Sure, you brought in LOTS of new players and interest...

But imagine how that would have turned out for the better if there was more in house testing instead of all the exploits, account hacks, and overall economy issues.

The same players you got would have still come and enjoyed it.. maybe even more so.

The release right after a November holiday... then into another LARGE set of holidays and everyone goes on break?!?!??

You have a massive following of PoE 1 ... and how PoE 2 early looks, I personally think in my opinion.. Poe 2 should have been a revamp of 1.

Guess we should just scrap 1 all together now and start working on PoE 3.

Love the games, but this is crazy.
