A Message to Path of Exile 1 Players

This is so disappointing.

PoE 2 aint it, not by a long shot. It just isn't PoE 1. I have zero desire to play the 10 hour campaign again. I've done it 4 times now in PoE 2, and it keeps getting harder to pull my self through it. Early maps isn't fun. Nothing about PoE 2 makes me excited to jump into a new league.

PoE1 has been my main game to relax and take time off (haven't gone on holidays in 7 years) for a long time now. I take a weekend plus a few days off when a league launches.

I just find this really sad, and I've spent a lot of money on PoE 1 over the years.

I was thinking about this the other day, what will happen to PoE 1. Truth is, PoE 1 is a wonderful game. It was truly the "Diablo 3" that we all wanted but didn't receive from Blizzard. PoE is a legendary game that will go down in history as being the small studio (GGG) challenging the larger one (Blizzard), and totally kicking it's ass!

That said, PoE 2 is far above and beyond any expectations. The game is simply amazing. There is no part of it that I do not feel is a masterpiece. Does it have some bugs and issues? Sure! But on the whole, PoE 2 will not only be the lead of the genre, it will re-imagine it. Can you imagine trying to design a game to compete with PoE 2 when it blows even Diablo 4 completely out of the water?

For many years, I have said that Diablo 2 is the GOAT of the genre. It still may be true. But PoE 2 is coming in hard to steal that trophy! The best measure we will have of its success is the longevity of the game. This may mean that PoE 1 eventually falls by the wayside. It will be worth it, in the end, to make PoE 2 the true GOAT of the genre. It is possible and within reach! Everything is already there. It just needs some TLC, and constant support. If PoE 2 lasts as long as PoE 1 even, it will surely take on the title of the real GOAT of the genre. My apologies, Diablo 2, but PoE 2 is just that damned good!

These guys have consistently delivered for us in POE 1 for years and years, bringing regular quality expansions to us in a timely manner! I do think we have been very spoiled and now we are so used to it that we fully expect them to keep delivering at this rate without a hitch. Even while they develop and release a brand new game that is honestly awesome content once again!

If over these long years you have played and loved POE 1 and everything these guys have developed for us, now is the time to show them some support and understanding while they come to grips with how to juggle these two games simultaneously.

Is this sad news? Did they make a mistake or miscalculated themselves? Yes.
But they also proved themselves to be one of the very bests constantly over the 10 years, and they will keep doing that.

People who impulsively compare them to blizzard and similar are in a really bad state and in need of taking a break. They will enjoy it again when they come back.

It's time to move on. POE 2 is amazing. GGG has been supporting POE1 for so many years to see people complaining about this is truly pathetic. They have delivered an amazing new product and it is time to embrace it.

Yes, it is a real fucked up situation. This shows how bad it is commiting to one hobby/game in the first place, at least for me. As you write, I planned most of my vacation around POE league-starts to totally enjoy the freshness since 10 years now. So much used to it, that I got 2 weeks left from last year I have to take now. Imagine. Sad. Probably my anger will now let me move on. But where to?

As expected, ggg abandoned his game, all that to "work" on POE2 which is far from the quality of POE1.
let the gold sellers and the bots have fun on POE2 and give us back POE1.
