Is starting POE 1 worth it right now?

I was not a aropg until my friend got me into POE 2 but now that the economy has gotten so bad on poe 2 and most of the content still not on the game, I want to try POE 1 but would I be able to create a character there and play through or since it's been a league for so long is the economy dead and player base low.

it IS !!
you get content from years of seasons, you can decide what you do and have thousands of hours of possibilities. And there is still a lot of playing

even if all the influencers and streamers are playing poe 2... poe 1 is still worlds bigger and better

Just start and make up your own opinion.

PoE1 is the most accomplished and content-rich ARPG/H&S to date.
Graphics are a bit dated, but the level of content and specialization you can achieve in both your build and your farming objectives is incomparable with other games, past or present.

I think PoE2 is a great introduction to PoE1.
If you enjoyed PoE2 about loot, how to develop your character with equipment, the skill tree and abilities, you'll find even more possibilities in 1.

the game can sometimes seem complex at the very start (socket on items, gem colors, affinity between dex/str/int characteristics and equipment and gems, ...). If needed, you can find help on the wiki or by watching Zizaran's tutorial videos (poe university).

You owe it to yourself to at least give PoE a try, if only for the sake of comparison. The best place to start would be the current league. If you like it, great. If not, you lost no more than you did trying PoE Deuce. =^[.]^=

If you're considering POE1, you should try it just to learn the game. It's different than POE2 in enough notable ways that a playthrough will help you when a new league starts.

No you are not allowed to start playing and/or enjoy playing POE1 right now.

So sayeth the POE streaming "community" on whose wisdom depends all reality.

You can but you really shouldn't. The league is completely dead because it is running for ages now and since we don't know if there ever will be a new league I would say it is not worth it.
