Ascendency Trials: GREAT CONTENT... but does it fit?

Ya i appreciate you picked up ... they are not fun for me.
I wasn't sure if i was projecting that sentiment.

Unfortunately they are mandatory.
Which means the game sucks with them.

The trials are smoking hot trash .
From the fact they are 2 mini games players actively avoided in PoE1.
They are Mandatory.
They are not fun at all, highly repetitive massively over tuned.

Just want to point out that fun is subjective. I never even tried to get the last two points (burnt out before that), but I did farm both chaos and sekhema and found them to be pretty fun.

I guess what you mean is that they are not fun for you. Well, tough. I hated the lab in poe1 and still did it to get my ascendancies and didn't complain about it.

Anyway, games need their low points to make high points feel higher.

But it just pisses me off more when I consider.

The trials create a new game play.
To create a problem that didn't exist, in that honor sucks.
The only gear to mitigate it drops in that zone.
You need to fail several times to start acquiring the gear to mitigate the fake problem.
Zone specific loot drops to counter the problem that they created.

While implementing an out of place mini game, that has though implementation in PoE1 shown almost everyone hates them(except bots) that they then made mandatory.
All to frustrate players and waste their time with random diminishment of characters players spent hours creating.

Then i really foam at the mouth.
Way to go GGG you just made a game for bots, its perfect for them.
Repetative and once you build charaters only to do them .. trivial.

Trials are incredibly boring.

I'm sorry but touching crystals and pulling levers for 40+ rooms over an hour or more of time isn't fun.

I know the fights now, but the first time I ran a trial, reached the scorpion boss, died because I was new to the fight and then had to restart my entire trial, I was borderline ready to uninstall the game. That's not how you introduce new content to people - by punishing them for trying to learn it.

Especially since you need a key to enter the trial itself. If I at least could try as much as I want, it would be okay, but why do I have to farm keys before being able to try again?
I also think they shouldn't be mandatory. Great that there's this type of content for people that like it, but I just don't.
And I have to do it to progress the ascendancy which is a bummer and a major waste of time imho.

Both systems are also in another well established and successful arpg called Path of Exile or are you arguing that PoE1 isnt really an arpg because it has those features?

The Labyrinth in PoE1 was also always a heavily discussed topic, because many players just don't want to solve puzzles or avoid traps all the time.

Like I said in the beginning, for many players it just feels completely off. If the whole game would be full of traps and puzzles, it would make sense. But the traps and puzzle are trial-exclusive. Content-wise the trials are like 5% of the game, but they offer rewards that are a must-have for like any build you're trying to make. So you can't skip these 5% of the game and are forced to play them, no matter how much you dislike this specific gameplay. And I just argue to keep it, but move the ascendency points out of it. People who want to use the trials to farm items can still do so, but others are not forced to go through with it anymore and finaly players get rewarded accordingly after finishing an act.
