The best way to recharge energy shield in maps and areas of high mob density is through the grim feast skill. Grim Feast restores ~200 energy shield (depends on your level and quality) for every mob you kill. If you're in a breach and kill 100 mobs... well, you're basically not going to die. Grim Feast also has the added benefit of overcharging your ES, allowin you to get double your energy shield compared to base. I.e., if you've got 5k energy shield base, Grim Feast will allow you to charge it up to 10k, which is super handy to avoid things like dying.

Grim Feast has low utility on bosses though, and for that you're still giong to want Eternal Youth, as your flasks will work for ES and you can still keep it topped up even on content where you're getting hit regularly (see: Simulacrum).

prayers for rain is a unique that i have but i havent gotten around to using it. slower start of ES recharge, but taking damage doesnt stop recharging, so in theory if your recharge rate were high enough you could just juggle the incoming damage with the recharge rate itself, like how life normally works.
