One Shot in Act six by Silverback with 73% phys reduction and 1800 life.
Hello,
Love the game and have been enjoying playing the early access build. I wasn't much of a Hardcore player in PoE 1 however I have been dabbling in it in PoE 2 and have been having a great time. I have died 3 times so far and I was able to get further into the acts each attempt. My last attempt was a on a warrior Titan and I was feeling almost untouchable by any mob or boss thus far. I had even killed Silverback with a shout empowered Hammer of the gods and didn't think he was a big threat. I ran into him while grinding xp and he obliterated me in a single hit. As the title indicates I was a thick boy with at least 73% phys reduction after the patch for the sweet 15% increased effect. I had 65 fire res, capped cold res, 65 lighting resistances, 10% chaos, and 1800 life. Now I may be out of line or not understanding a mechanic that I need to and I just need to get better. However my personal experience does not align with what the game teaches you thus far about how hard things hit you. To be clear In Poe 1 I was a 6 portal enjoyer and I like the changes to portals. 6 loot portal and 1 if you die. We should have a consequence for death. With that said I still think The Silver Fister needs a bit of a balance pass. Thanks for you time and patience and I can't wait to see what you guys give us next! Funny thing is he supposedly just got nerfed in patch 1.1 but still seems to do an absurd amount of damage.

The nerfed part is only the body roll damage, not the slam damage.
If you stand like under 5 meter in front of it, you're sure to just die from the pillar slam. Last edited by xonedl#1873 on Jan 17, 2025, 11:28:22 PM

" You seem to be talking about Armor. This is not how armor works. I know the formula is a bit different in PoE 2 compared to PoE 1, but in general is pretty similar. The formula is not liner. The higher physical hit you take, the less damage is mitigated with armor. Armor is good against small hits and gets less effective the more damage the hit does. Against a hard hit like the Silverback slam, your armor mitigates closer to 0% - 15% damage. But nowhere near 73%. With 20000 Armor against a 5000 damage hit, you have about 25% mitigation. So still about 3750 damage. Kripparian explains it much better though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw-uD-vz_5s Edit: Sorry I forgot that armor is even worse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=henLgTe4Ztk Last edited by Avaricta#4758 on Jan 18, 2025, 12:57:15 AM

Yeah thanks I've already watch all of Kripps videos. My post is meant to put a spot light on this issue that is already a problem. They "buffed" Armour in the patch however the 15% was next to nothing and the problem is basically just as bad.

Armour has never been in a good state compared to other forms of defense, but it is reasonable in PoE 1 because the ability to scale it high enough to make a slight difference. PoE 2 is still Early so the supports for Armor just haven't arrived yet.

" Agreed. The recent Patch added "Scavenged Plating now grants you stacks for a duration based on the enemy's rarity. Normal enemies grant 1 stack, Magic enemies grants 2 stacks, Rare enemies grant 5 stacks, and Unique enemies grant 10 stacks." This is the only Aura or spirit buff for armour and it is a joke and completely unreliable unlike wind dancer or Grim harvest. |

I am also facing similar problems with this boss, at act 3 normal difficulty.
I managed to kill the boss finally but I had died multiple times before that. Just curious, are the hits and slams of this boss able to be blocked by "raised shield"? 34pre98qua

i dont see the issue, the slam attack is well telegraphed and can be dodged or blocked easily
the roll could be a bit unfair but it got nerfed, i think the fight is good now | |
Armour always a myth in POE. I always tell , first pump your health & ES before others always and always. Ex if you were had 2500 health and %40 reduction you would survive.
I can only tell since we don't have hp talents amulets and chest body armours have %hp increase as stat. Try them. Even more you put %2 max hp runes unless you needed resistance on some items. Hope it helps , armour reduction won't work if you don't add "endurance" charges with it. |
